So every other team in 1999 was horrendously imbalanced?

Hrm? The 2013 Chargers had almost exactly the same expected wins as the 1979 Bucs. This would mean that the teams were almost equally talented vs the rest of their respective leagues.

    This is not hard, Alby.
And you said the 79 Bucs lucked into the playoffs but your Chargers are the second best team in the NFL?

You lived when he played. Did he ever strike you as one of the best QB's of his generation? He never made a Pro Bowl/All Pro selection.

The bulk of his career was in the era of Staubach, Fouts, and Bradshaw.

    • 10/11 of recent SB's have featured Brady, Manning, or Roethlisberger as the AFC rep. Everyone knows this but it's still startling when presented like this.

In that they had substantially more passes than rushes? Yes.

Second best? Where did I say that.

          A) Yes, I was alive when he played, so maybe I know.
          B) Here's the answer to your first point. Only so many make All Pro. That has nothing to do with his success as a QB.

                    • Former Bears' great Jim Miller was the only one to not vote Peyton Manning for MVP:

The Post reported that Jim Miller, a former NFL quarterback and Sirius XM NFL Radio host, revealed he cast a vote for Brady. The 50 voters only vote for one person on the ballot. Brady or another player might have also received votes, but at very least Miller gave Brady his vote. So Brady's 2010 MVP award remains the only one in the AP's MVP history to be unanimous.

"It pains me because Peyton had such a historic season," Miller told the Post. "He is the offensive player of the year, no question. But having played the position, when I looked at who had the most value to his team, I thought Tom Brady carried that team the same way Adrian Peterson carried Minnesota last year."

Brady is a great player, but it's absurd that Manning didn't win unanimously. He had what is clearly one of the greatest NFL seasons of all time, and probably the best one ever. Denver had the better team this year, and beat the Patriots in the AFC championship game for good measure. Manning had 5,477 yards and 55 touchdowns, compared to 4,343 yards and 25 touchdowns for Brady. Manning even threw one fewer interception, with his 10 to Brady's 11. There's no significant measure in which Brady was better, except that Manning had better teammates. That shouldn't be a reason to not vote for someone. And anyone who uses the strict "most valuable" definition as a reason to not vote for Manning obviously has paid no attention to what Manning does in a locker room and meeting rooms for a team. The Broncos are basically running his offense.

Anyone else completely forget that Jim Miller even existed?

                          • He's a radio personality on 670 The Score. All of Chicago knows and remembers him. Peyton had all these amazing players around him. Of course he performed well. Brady had a bunch of nobodies and still had a pretty good year. That is the difference between Offensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable. Now with that being said: I understand the thought process, I just don't agree it. Peyton Manning was CLEARLY the MVP this season.

Brady was pretty incredible this year with the talent he had to work with.
And does he deserve consideration for MVP... YES.

However, Manning had a better season, and not by just a "little"... IT WASN'T EVEN CLOSE!

But what's the problem here... Manning did win the MVP, and everybody is welcome to their own opinion/vote.

                              • I think Peyton got Offensive Player of the Year, too.

It matters a little bit because Brady is still the only unanimous MVP in NFL history. Peyton had the best statistical season by a QB ever but didn't get unanimous.
