  • I'm a big believer in an early QB strategy. Start and forget. Reach for an underappreciated backup in 12/13, with a strong starter. I'd rather have 5/6 solid backs and wrs than a QB3. The more backs the better, as that is 5 positions I have to fill every week.

My list was one of the following, Brees, Manning, Rivers, Rodgers, Schaub in that order. So I usually slot in pick number 2 as a starting QB.

RB/QB/WR/TE with TE being Gates, and QB likely Rivers if I have a late pick. Pick 1 is always the highest ranking RB on the board (in this case it was SJax). Pick 3 is more flexible. I will pick the best player still available.

Getting 4 solid players means that no matter what your team is going to be ok. Then it's just a matter of filling your holes.

      • Al B -- I can't believe you're still agonizing over the Ravens D.

IMHO, it's pretty clear that you can probably do just as well with weekly matchups as the points you're getting out of Baltimore. So just freaking cut the cord and go elsewhere.

-If the Ravens suck, who cares if someone else has them?
-If you think they are going to turn it around, keep them.

But please, stop asking us the same question every week. Either fish or cut bait, dude.

I've beaten both Brees and Manning. They aren't invicible, not by a long shot.

          • Do you have a back up D? Have they been getting more points? If so, then start them, see how it goes.

I think he should go with the Chargers. They are playing "Lights out" *

The thing that's getting me is that the ESPN fantasy analysts still rank them #3 behind only the Jets and Packers. It's like, what's up with that?

Their description of the Ravens even says they have tallied the 7th FEWEST fantasy points. Am I missing something? Are they retarded? Why are they still ranking the Ravens so highly?

Yeah but again, this is fantasy not real life. These analysts are fantasy analysts. In standard ESPN formats, the Ravens are 26th.

And holy crap. The Rams are #2 in points allowed among teams who have played 4 games, second only to the Steelers. Who would of thunk that? Steve Spagnuolo

                      • Points given up is a fantasy statistic. IRL it also counts.

Yeah but these rankings should be based on total fantasy points right? The Ravens are at the very bottom of the barrel in fantasy terms yet why are these analysts still ranking them #3?

                          • Look this is the ESPN synopsis:
Why fantasy is frustrating when it comes to defenses: This defense has allowed the fewest yards (119.0) and fifth-fewest points (13.8) per game, yet has tallied the seventh fewest fantasy points. In other words, "trust" and "consistency" are fair words to use. But Kyle Orton hasn't been making mistakes, so turnovers might remain absent.
Yet Berry ranks them #2, Karabell and Kuselias #3 and Harris #8.

                            Yahoo ranks them at #6.

Are all fantasy analysts getting "Big Name" syndrome and still ranking them highly even though they have not been performing for fantasy purposes?

Consider, in our Apolyton format for D/ST, the Ravens are 24th in fantasy points.
