Recent trades have made Hairball express that much more dangerous. I'm glad I don't have to play him anymore. So are teh love wow. Tuberski in the biggest blowout of the week.

Mountain Goats(5) vs. Detroit Deity Duo(12)
Yes, Brady is god, and Addai will roll them up again, but will it be enough? DDD needs 50 points from Brady to make this an even match. He won't pull it off this week. The combo of Jacobs/Jones/Forte will put Jag too far ahead. Jag

Calamitous Intent(6) vs. Deviations(10)
Never have been a believer in Guy's team, and I think Deviations will expose them. Koya gets all his players back, and Slaton will be a beast with his job on the line. Koya wins a not close matchup to make an already long and difficult road for Guy that much harder.Koya

Forte's Firemen(7) vs. Vicious Rabbits(11)
Still can't believe Slowwy let himself be robbed by giving up the PT Cruiser. He gives Snoopy what he always needed, a good starting RB. Another decent team that should be unstoppable given injury due to two excellent and favourable trades. Hester + Stewart, are questionable and so are JRabbit's chances of winning this. Snoopy

Dallas Dwarf Tossers(1) vs. Da Boyz(9)
The battle for Texas here. Slowwy is in yet another difficult matchup. I think Slowwy has really weakened his team now. His RBs are Mendenhall and Ricky Williams this week with Ricky getting not so many carries. He'll miss the PT Cruiser this week. I'd love to call an upset here, but Jacoby Jones? Seriously? I feel for Da Boyz as a golden opportunity slips. Slowwy

Manning vs Schaub in a head to head battle? Yes EPW has a good team, but they've overlooked a strong opponent. 35 points for Schaub against Indy? Wishful thinking 25 would be more likely. Every one of Berz's players have excellent matchups this week. It'll be close, but Ronnie Brown gets shut down again this week, and so does Schaub. Berz

GAME OF THE WEEK:

Yeah, game of the week, I've had a few of those. Not looking forward to this matchup. How can I win against Bresus? We have much the same team. He's got a stronger RB1 in Ray Rice, and a stronger QB1, but I have far better depth at the flex spot. We are both starting projects at RB2, I'm running with Beanie this week and he has Forsett.

I'm also going to point out something that is crucial. I have an outside chance this week for 50 points from my defense. Zopper has about 35. I know that Jrabbit and the rest of you don't see what having a killer D does for you, but it's one of the reason I just win baby, and something that escapes all analyses based on the O.

The matchup has been tightening in the projections. I'd probably be ahead if I had a better RB2, but if wishes were horses than beggars would ride. Beanie carries me over with another excellent performance to put me at 7-2, and in excellent position for a playoff spot. Ben

Didn't say that either. But I do note that Sanders brought exactly 6.50 points, total, to your team. And he was on your roster for 8 weeks? Yeah, good call.

What I actually posted:

Most defenders are wasted draft picks. Other than a handful of stud LBs and KR/CB types, there's very little separation among defenders in the long run. So I don't get attached.

Which, for the comprehension-challenged, means that you can generally find a point-scoring equivalent to most defenders. Hanging onto a "name" player who is injured or having a bad year just eats up a roster spot.

I should also point out that my post made absolutely no reference to Ben or his team.

You're right that Sanders was a waste.

But Farrior, Ware, Polamalu, Mathis, and Peppers were all high defensive draft picks, and have performed well.

The only consistant starter that wasn't drafted was Bethea.

I see your point about 'other than the high end', but I think it makes a big difference if you can get a starting squad of high-end defensive starters. Enough so to pay a premium on your backups at starter.

Sure you can root around for pickups, but those are just as likely to be duds that get you nothing for a week, as treasure.

I would guess it's correlation and not causation. People good at drafting (anything) are also good at drafting defenses. EPW's 8th in the list, after all.

I only have 2 of my original defensive picks. Seems like you can always scrounge a decent defensive player as they do not seem to be consistent from year to year or even with in the same season, unlike the other skilled positions.

Hmm...me wonders would it would be like if we only have like 4 or 5 bench slots. Seems like that would make things more interesting as it makes more of the second and third tier players available from week to week, and forces more painful decisions during byes (and you better plan your byes more carefully).
