Lames now up by a game. (3pts -1 pt) for the game in hand.

3 points with the Canucks having a game in hand.

Canucks have their first chance to bring it within a point against Phoenix tomorrow.

Even better yet, the Oilers win in Chicago in a shoot out when they had a game at hand. If I get the math right, that's worth 4 points in the standings....I think they are now favoured to win the Northeast division!!

        Dude, the logic isn't difficult.

Canucks at home against Flames is more likely to result in Canucks victory.

Canucks away at Phoenix is more likely to result in a Canucks victory.

Therefore, the most likely result means that the Canucks should win one, and win the other in overtime.

If I were to do the same logic for Edmonton, they are 4 points back of Calgary and 4 back of Vancouver.

(2 games against Calgary) + 1 game against Vancouver, and Calgary with an OT loss.

The percentages, if Vancouver and Calgary continue to play over the rest of the season, as they have so far, are 54 /46 split, favouring Calgary. This is the lowest it's been since the LA game, so the Canucks have their second crack at the division lead.

            Asher:

That's all factored in the 54-46 split.

Calgary still is most likely to hold onto the division, because of the road trip and the fact that they hold the tiebreaker (most wins).

All the Canucks need to do is beat Phoenix, beat the flames in regulation, and match the flames game for game the rest of the way.

If they win 8, they are most likely to get in. If they win 7, they won't, so it is very close. 8-4 they win the division, 7-5, they won't.

By the way, Ben, I'm not sure if you've noticed this...but you always mention where games are played, but only when they favour the Canucks.
WRT to Edmonton, Calgary is more likely to finish behind Edmonton, then Vancouver, just because you have 2 games against them, and because the Canucks have a game in hand.

            So thanks for reminding me.

Sedins in Toronto? Kill me now. I need them go to to a far southern US state. I hate them. They're overrated, bland, and oh so boring.

                  Yup

AS a longtime HABS fan it pains me to see it. They still have all those guys that everyone thought were SOOOO talented all last season and the first half of this one. BUt they seem to have no spirit-- The game here in Calgary was one where they just quit and I have seena number of games since where it has happened-- And when they do play with a little urgency for a while, it seems that their goaltending lets them down.

Their talent SHOULD be enough for them to make the playoffs but they need to find some way to turn things around NOW. I wouldn't be very optimistic but thankfully there are not 5 teams on their heels . Its really a head on race with Florida-- I can't see Buffalo really being a factor but its possible. They could also catch the teams ahead but if Montreal gets close to those guys it means they had to string 2-3 wins together in a row

Phoenix FIVE Canucks ONE --- sometimes the 14th place struggling team just whomps the 4th place soaring team with the best goalie in the west

Do you see now why the gap was three points with a game in hand? and not some other number based on an assumption as to who will win a game?

At the very least will you agree that at this moment the gap is exactly three points?

What do you have against the Jackets, other than the history of them being sad-sacks?
