  • Wow

Nabokov was AMAZING tonight. Sharks got only 5 shots through 2 periods but win 2-1 in OT-- I particularly like that Nabokov stopped Nash on a penalty shot-- Too bad he lost the shutout
You don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo

Anyone, like Ryan Smyth, who can make a living parked in front of the net with the tip and the rebound is generally quite highly regarded. NHL level defencemen do not allow that to be an easy life, and getting goals on NHL goalies is no easy task no matter how you get them.
That was the problem... the Hawks weren't making it difficult at all, if you watched them they didn't check much around the net ...

Watching that game and then Calgary was like night and day. I guess the Hawks are too young to play consistently...

Against who? Unless it's the opposing team's star, good on him.
        Yay, I successfully trolled Asher

Yes, I know he was smart to avoid it. Doesn't mean I can't razz him about it, does it?

Yup. Teams as young as the Hawks, with some big injuries, will not usually play well game in and game out.

Especially when they play against bottom-feeding teams like Edmonton, where the motivation simply isn't there.

Calgary seems to have the same problem. They win in games against playoff teams and lose against the Edmontons and Chicagos...

            • Maybe the Flames just have a lot of soft players and poor leadership.

              • I'm sure that's exactly the case. It's precisely why Iginla was the west's Captain and frontrunner for captaining Team Canada at the Olympics in 2010.

Not every team is fortunate enough to be blessed with such talented players and strong captains like Ethan "8 games a season" Moreau.

                    So worth the money.

Moss and Yelle on the powerplay?

                          • Yup. A little bit of turn-about.

It was good to see more emotion in these 2 games than some of the recent past. Gives something to look forward to for the next couple.

                              • and dagnabit-- Family obligations kept me from being able to check today to see which Ottawa goalie would play. I lost out on a win and a .970 sv%-- I lead both those categories narrowly and but my mistake could easily cost me both categories
