  • AHL- Apolyton Hockey League 07/08: VI They brought their ****in' toys with 'em!

You cheap son of a *****. Are you crazy? Those guys are retards!

I got a good deal on those boys. The scout said they showed a lot of promise.

They brought their ****in' toys with 'em!

I'd rather have 'em play with their toys than with themselves.

They're too dumb to play with themselves.
Every piece of garbage on the market, you gotta buy it!

    Reg. Reg, that reminds me.
I was coachin' in Omaha in 1948
and Eddie Shore sends me this guy that's a terrible masturbator.
Couldn't control himself. He would get deliberate penalties
so he could get into the penalty box all by himself,
and damned if he wouldn't, you know...

Oh, and there's 70,000+ in the stands in Buffalo to watch a shiny game in a snow storm between the Pens and Sabres. The game is on NBC for any of our American cousins who are interested.

Crowds in Chicago are really picking up recently.

Good times ahead for the NHL.

I was just watching the game on NBC (between bowl games). Pretty cool and I'm sure it's a nice plus to the bottom line. I think they should make the rink a little bigger for these stadium games, though.

There are lots of very nice stadiums free for the winter, at least in the States.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

The outdoor game was pretty neat.

I'm just loving how Conklin's been doing. 5-0 now? And Lupul's incredible scoring pace too.

What is it about Edmonton that kills players?

Edit: And a small correction: the Oilers have won in regulation precisely 7 times in the last 60 games. Does anyone keep track of these kinds of records, I'd love to compare this to previous teams.

I would focus mostly on this season but I do see they are winning something like 10% of their games in regulation

While that is very bad, they have been reasonably competitive in more games this season than I expected

I think he is a closeted Oilers fan. I don't know what else explains the fixation.

It's a rivalry. One that Edmontonians pretend not to like while their teams are as brutal as they are.

Rivalries are fine. They're great when shared with intelligent and good natured rivals. Alas, I have to look elsewhere for that.

More personal attacks are not the best idea. I think we've all had enough of that.

I see what you mean, but even a European sized rink wouldn't fill it up.

I'd like to see this every Jan 1. There are maybe 9 American teams and a couple in Canada to host them.

I'm not sure who have covered stadiums. What is available in the Boston, New York, Chicago, Detroit, and Minneapolis area? Are they all outdoor?

Obviously Buffalo is OK, and I think Mile High is open, so Denver would be good too.

Not all Canadian cities could do it. Vancouver does not have an ideal climate for the purpose even if they had an open stadium, which they don't.

I was thinking it would be nice in Detroit next year. Let Illich give cheaper tickets to a large event for some fans going through hard times.

Admittedly, Asher rises to almost every insult but you do tend to throw them out there reasonably often. I appreciate you two have a history but if one of you takes a shot at the other guy`s team, I hope the other can respond in kind.

Bjut nye, you do like the little personal digs. For instance you said

Since arguably everyone in this apolyton league ARE rivals, this just IS a shot at everyone's intelligence and disposition. A mild shot admittedly but it is the type of thing you do a lot. I ignored 3 or 4 aimed at me in the last couple of weeks alone

Personally I don't really care all that much but such comment often lead to the personal squabbles that get so BORING to most people in here and lead to moderator intervention. I do also wonder at the motivation of ANYONE that tries to get personal on a poly board.

I`ll jump off my soapbox now and get back to hockey buit on that score it is getting more and more difficult to find a bunch of positive things to say about the Oil other than they have a bunch of young guys and their goaltending has often been very good.

If you want to discuss any other teams (Flames Canadiens being my favorites) I am always happy to participate. If you not judge me to be intelligent or good natured enough to debate, thats your decision. I make similar decisions in life and on boards all the time but never am so tactless as to explain the reasons for such decisions

C`mon you have to expect OIlers fans to take it on the chin a little with the year their team is having

If the Flames tank I will willingly endure the gloating of those that are anti-Flames

Heck I even offered NYE a quote bet to be displayed for the playoffs but he declined

To me, a hockey board should have LOTS of sniping about the teams
