From the stats, it looks like the whole team's out to lunch.
I don't think they know what to do when Kipper isn't out there?

A nice break for Oilers fans in an otherwise bleak period.
And Dion's a little *****. Big and tough, pushing smaller players around and going in with late hits. Cries like a little girl to the refs when he gets it back in his face.

I think Dion's fought more players this season than anyone else on the Oilers, sans Stortini (whose patented "hug fighting" doesn't even really count).
Dion pushes all players around. It just so happens most of your players are small. And I don't think he should stop being a physical player just because he hurts your feelings.

Scoresheet seems to indicate it's a brutal game.

Watching it was worse-- The Flames really didn't show up-- A number of the Oils goals were very nice shots that went in off posts and/or through screens. The Flames had a few chances but once again had ZERO finish around the net-- Garon was good when he had to be but a lot of the shots were into his body etc
It was one of those games that was just so very very brutal that you just have to move past it
Oh and Iggy/Huselius/Langkow were MIA again-- Against Dallas they tried Iggy with Conroy and Tanguay and they generated a lot of chances before Keenan inexplicably moved Iggy back with Huselius and Landkow.
Oh ya and anyone seen Matthew Lombardi these days??

Neither he, nor you, should cry when he gets clocked as a consequence of playing like he does.
I don't recall anyone crying.
I do recall pointing out skating up to and intentionally elbowing a player is douchebaggery. If you want to fight, fight...Dion does.

I don't know who you have been watching but Phaneuf hits everyone and everywhere. The hits on the smaller guys are just more spectacular when people go flying. He generally hits very clean and hard-- I didn't notice any crying to the refs last night but confess I didn't watch the last few minutes and fast forwarded through most of the non-play stuff-- When I attend at the dome-- he rarely seems to speak at the refs despite getting a few face washes.
He never complains on clean hits either-- In the playoffs last year Dan Cleary cleaned Phaneuf's clock a couple of times and there was nary a whisper.
I can see reasons to criticize Phaneuf around some of his defensive miscues or his failure to become a more proficient PP quarterback but his physical play is just fine thanks. Other teams will always think a hard hitter is an ******* but as a fan I will always respect a guy that plays and hits hard

Quite a Flames comeback-- Losing 3-0 with 12 minutes to go in a game where ( like the dallas game) they actually played pretty well-- Two goals by Phaneuf and then Iggy scores with 9 seconds to win it. Goes to a shooout and Iggy scores the winner
Gutsy comeback

I'm not commenting on his hits during play. He's a great hitter, and that's a part of his game I like and respect.
You didn't notice the crying to the refs? It was in the 1st period. He hit Cogliano, maybe late, maybe finishing a check. Moreau didn't care. He smacked Phaneuf with the elbow to say hello, and then fed him several rights. Dion had dropped gloves, but didn't get a chance to do anything and then cried to the refs about getting 5. Very funny.
What I am commenting on is him being a tough guy with a visor. It's pushing around small forwards after the whistle. It's the late hits. The false bravado. It's crying to the ref when he plays hard, gets clocked, and then cries about the consequences of the style of his own play. It's why I sometimes call him a little *****, because sometimes he plays and acts like one.

Yes, any time a player yells at the refs in protest it's because they're crying. No one has ever done this on the Oilers. I'm pretty sure every player in the NHL has yelled at refs to disagree a call.

Yes, being tough means you can't be smart and wear a visor. Frankly, if you're a pro hockey player, you're stupid if you don't wear the visor. Iginla wears a visor as well, is he not "tough"?

Not to simplify things too much, but you see **** that's not there and cry about **** that's not there because you wish you had any player remotely close to his calibre. He's the kind of player opposing teams love to hate, and it shows.
He doesn't have a history of late hits, he doesn't have a history as a whiner (your "proof" of him protesting a bull**** call is classy though), and he doesn't push around "small forwards after the whistle" (just minutes ago, he tussled with Shane Doan after the whistle -- is he little?). He pushes everyone around all the time, it's his game. Deal with that and stop your whining (amusingly, about Phaneuf's perceived whining).
Look, here's Iginla simultaneously being a wuss (visor!) hitting late (he's hitting an Canuck, it must be late, they're too speedy to be hit legitly!), and crying to the ref (look at him looking at the ref!)
Phaneuf's a tough guy. He fights anyone in the league, as his few years in the league have shown. He doesn't back down on hitting big guys. Anyone claiming otherwise is simply seeing what they want to see, and as lame as it sounds, whining out of pure jealousy.

Never noticed any crying-- I probably fast forwarded through it( I started watching late) but if someone throws and elbow and a few rights I know I would expect that guy to get an extra two-- To me its not that unexpected if its occasional and with justification
