  • Well I think he was saying that Nebraska travels better than ND.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
    - John 13:34-35 (NRSV)

    • Good retort. Indeed that was a low point. The Irish were coming off a 5-7 campaign and Bob Davie was on his way out. Ironically, even if the team thought it had been sold out, they took the top-ranked Nebraska team to overtime before losing. And they went on to have a 9-2 regular season.

However, I have heard from people who went to that game that the Huskers' taking over South Bend was exaggerated.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

      • Well, I was there when the Huskers kicked ND's ass in Lincoln and I can tell you that there weren't very many ND fans in attendance...

Nebraska fans travel very well, which is why we also score prime bowls. I wouldn't say we are the best by far, however. There are some other teams whose fans travel very well...

          • The same people who want to go to South Bend: real college football fans. They're about the only ones, though...

            • One of the nice things about being an ND fan is that you don't have to go to Lincoln to actually see the game.

              • Checking Google, that's only about an 8 or 9 hour drive from South Bend. Should be doable.
