This is why you think that if a cop shoots a black man it must be because he's black.

Ok, how about the fact they actually put it in writing as an official command policy?

Area Bombing Directive (General Directive No.5 (S.46368/111. D.C.A.S)

"..that the primary objective of your operations should be focused on the morale of the enemy civil population and in particular the industrial workers"
"You accordingly authorized to employ your forces without restriction"

The Chief of the Air Staff then asked for clarification as follows..

"I suppose it is clear the aiming points will be the built up areas, and not, for instance, the dockyards or aircraft factories where these are mentioned in Appendix A. This must be made quite clear if it is not already understood."

      That proof enough for you?

Nothing that goes against Kid's thoughts is proof enough for him. He will probably claim you are an idiot, or don't know what you are talking about... or post some analogy that makes no sense, or post something that is totally senseless... That has been his approach for ever when proved wrong over and over again.

Next kid will be telling us that the A-bomb drops weren't about terror.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

It's obvious that you don't realize that the objective was reducing the industrial effectiveness of nazis. Your article makes that clear, but not the part you quoted. That part makes it seem like they were not attacking factories and other parts of the supply chain.

That's the difference between that and terrorism, and proves that you don't understand what terrorism is. You probably think jihad is about reducing the enemies industrial capacity.

No Kid. They never stopped attacking factories and the supply chain, however there is a very clearly defined path of the deliberate targetting of civilians which was started by the Germans in Poland, and expanded throughout the war on both sides. Hitler for instance initially refused permission to German aircrews to attack British civilian targets. They were actually punished for deliberately or even accidentally hitting them. Then over time as the allies hit civilian targets (possibly inadvertantly due to the poor targeting early in the war) the Germans retaliated, and the tit for tat raids grew and grew to the point were we were actually firebombing cities into complete destruction despite their (at best) very limited value to the German war effort.

People back then weren't monsters and they thought in much the same way as we do today. There were frequent and very vocal disagreements about the targeting of civilian population centres, and the fact that as the war expanded into a total war, civilians became 'legitimate' targets in attempts to destroy their morale and force an early end to the war. If you want to deny that, then you're denying basic historical fact, ignoring the airforce chiefs and political leaders whose words are still available to us to read today, and imposing your own revisionist version of history simply because you don't like how the real one actually was.

Basically that's what Ben does, and you know how much respect Ben receives. Don't be that guy.

Despite the fact they actually said they wanted to target civilian morale? Not sure if you're just trolling now.

Targeting the morale of INDUSTRIAL WORKERS is not the same as trying to maximize civilian body count without any strategic military benefit!

Acts of Terror by IS (and others) try to lower the morals of the western population and raise the morals of IS fighters ... th latter of which has a lot of military benefit, considering that it potentially keeps IS soldiers from defecting and makes them fight harder

To be fair, late in the war all of those industrial targets were long gone and they were trying to find some target to justify their continued budget expenses and occupy time for men who were just sitting around.

In WW2 my grandfather (mother's father) was a fighter pilot who spent most of the war training and who got to fly exactly one combat mission escorting bombers over Japan before the war ended. He said he never even saw a Japanese plane because they were all shot down long before, even if the Japs had one they had no fuel to fly it, and the bombers were hitting targets which had already been hit many times before and they were just moving the same old rumble around.
