I don't think he did. He did. He put them both in the category of groups that enjoy the right to free speech. The issue is that he choose BLM as his example to compare with the KKK. For you, its why the examples I provided offend you but what GT did did not: the question I asked.Originally posted by Ming View PostThe same as everybody else uses... He didn't claim they were the same or in the same category... If you think he did, then it's simply your opinion.“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”

If you were to ask someone for examples of demonstrators chanting hateful speech, the KKK and BLM would be two of the more recent examples that got national coverage. So when talking about hateful speech by demonstrators in regards to free speech, it makes sense to bring them both up. Doing so is not necessarily equating the causes, only the specific actions that qualify as hateful speech. Chanting "pigs in a blanket, fry them like bacon" is hateful speech. By doing that, BLM put themselves in the conversation about hateful speech by demonstrators.
In any case it's not against the rules to equate someone or something to Nazis, KKK, paedophiles, Americans, low fat mayonaise or some other awful thing when they aren't actually like that awful thing. Otherwise we'd all be permabanned.

Da shi is entitled to his opinion. I can see where he's coming from, but I stand by saying I'll judge it on the full body of work. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

The BLM movement had a few protesters say some aggressive statements in response to having their people being killed frequently by police with no justice. The KKK doesn't need to be provoked to make vile hateful statements and doesn't chant anything else. Your response only further demonstrates that the comparison was driven by viewing a black movement as innately hateful. Why not instead choose a legitimate hate group that gets national coverage? How about the Westboro Baptists, the Alt-right, Gamergate, Twitter trolls? That BLM came first to mind is a serious problem and should prompt some serious self-reflection.Originally posted by Aeson View PostIf you were to ask someone for examples of demonstrators chanting hateful speech, the KKK and BLM would be two of the more recent examples that got national coverage. Again... in your opinion... and you are welcome to it.Originally posted by DaShi View PostThat BLM came first to mind is a serious problem and should prompt some serious self-reflection.
But others are welcome to disagree... if anybody that disagrees with you is a racist in your opinion... well it's your opinion.
It doesn't make it a fact.
Now if GT was sprouting racist crap all the time, I might even agree with your opinion... But as Rah states, look at the body of work. It doesn't support your argument.
But again, you are welcome to your opinion, and others are welcome to theirs.Keep on Civin'

You still won't answer the question. I guess personal attacks make you feel better.
Like I said, take some time for serious self-reflection. Also, read the article I posted. It should help.“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”

One more time... not a question. He wasn't "categorizing" BLM with the KKK... unless you consider "categorizing" because they are both associations... nothing more.Originally posted by DaShi View PostSo you think categorizing BLM with the KKK is fine, but categorizing christians with pedophiles is not?
He didn't say he supported the KKK, and didn't say BLM was a hate group. But, it is a fact that some BLM fringe members are saying hateful things against ALL police officers.
That you can't deny.
So again, I don't see a proper question there.Keep on Civin'

KKK IS comprised of scrum. BLM also has some scum in their membership, which hinders their overall effort.Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

Wow! How can you complain about Ben when you are arguing semantics, poorly.
So what was your problem with the posts I made when you had no problem with the post GT made? BTW, I don't think there is a reading level lower to ask this question in, but this is the best I can do for you.“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”

Ah, so a white group must be full of entirely bad people to be bad, but a black group only needs a few to tar its image?Originally posted by SlowwHand View PostKKK IS comprised of scrum. BLM also has some scum in their membership, which hinders their overall effort.
Do you people actually read what you write? Now, I'm not saying that you have ill-intent, but what you are saying is very offensive.“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”
