Not according to the polling or the electoral college for that matter.

      • i'm astonished that a liberal website says clinton won! in fact, about as astonished as am i to hear that a hillary fanboi says she won and that trump was terrible.

I'm astonished that you think Trump won. Did you actually watch the debate?

And Huffington Post (which is still more proBernie and still writes critical articles of Hillary) thinks Trump knocked himself out.

By the way, polls showed Hillary won. So what you or I think is irrelevant. Hillary will get some bounce from this, but it wasn't as watched as the first. So at worst, she will maintain her present advantage.

And you didn't debunk my last point. He failed at moving the topic away from the tapes. People are still talking about it.

          • Btw, disastrous poll out for Trump. Hillary is +7% in Rasmussen reports (45%-38%). They oversample republicans big time. Same poll that said Romney was going to win. Conservative leaning economist poll says roughly the same thing (+6%). Both take into account the other two third party candidates.

The debate in the end will have either no impact or some in Hillary's direction.

Attacking my political views and falsely calling me a fan boi, isn't helping your argument.

Edit: BTW if you hate liberal websites, here is a conservative leaning one:

In the broad sweep of U.S. history, very occasionally one of the major parties simply disqualifies itself from the contest to win the White House by nominating an unelectable, non-mainstream candidate. We suspect that there will never be a better example than Donald Trump. The Republican Party chose a deeply divisive figure — one not supported by many senior figures in the GOP even before the release of Trump’s raunchy 2005 discussion with Access Hollywood’s (and now The Today Show’s) superficial, celebrity-worshipping Billy Bush. (Yes, he is of the Bush family, so a Bush finally speared Trump, however unintentionally.) Their X-rated discussion, and Trump’s insistence on discussing Bill Clinton’s sordid past, has caused voters to usher children out of the room when the TV news comes on. Is this the most embarrassing campaign ever? It must be close.

"In other words, this felt like a status quo debate to us. And if that is indeed the case, the outcome is fine for Clinton, because she had reestablished a clear lead in the race going into the weekend."

She did fine and he did poorly, though not as poor as the first one. From a conservative site.

            • It's not entirely clear if Mark Burnett is actually a supporter of Trump at all. And this could spell disaster for Trump himself.

Bill Priutt, producer of the 1st and 2nd seasons of the Apprentice says there is far worse than the audio tape.

Now people want these tapes produced... even more than Trump's tax returns.

Two days ago, Pruitt also said more is coming. And it could be far worse.

Early voting has already started. This could be the end of the Trumptanic. 7% behind in Rasmussen is bad enough.

              • so according to the vox article, basically, there's an alleged tape, on which trump allegedly says some nasty things, but it probably won't come out anyway. it's not exactly watergate, is it. hillary, no stranger to colourful language herself, has also been accused of making racial slurs. it's just hearsay until anything is produced, though.

the debate was close and opinion is divided on who won. some polls say clinton; others, including some focus groups, say trump. unsurprisingly each side is trying to spin it to their advantage.

rasmussen is a joke and shouldn't be taken seriously. of course clinton is in the lead, but no one has denied that.

finally, yes, you are a fanboi. accept it. own it.

                • NBC/WSJ Poll today: Clinton +14 in 2-way race, +11 in 4-way.

Those with insider GOP contacts are saying their internal polling is worse and getting worse for Congressional Republicans. The bottom seems to have fallen out from under them. Paul Ryan just came out and told House Republicans he's done with Trump (but won't "un-endorse" him), and said they all have to do whatever they think necessary to save their own seats.

If Clinton wins nationally by 6 or more, then not only would the Democrats almost certainly take the Senate, but they'd have good odds to take the House as well. The Republicans are being dragged into an open sewer grate by their nominee. But Trump has essentially declared war on any Republicans who defect from him, and his rabid supporters are promising to even vote for the Democrats in their races just to stick it to them. This is surreal.

Rasmussen is a joke with a well-known Republican bias. So them having Clinton +7 is incredibly, horribly bad for Trump. 538 adjusts them by about 3-4 in favor of Clinton IIRC, which means it would be totally in line with the NBC/WSJ poll I cited above, and several national polls from last week pre-tape flap that had Clinton up in the 9-11 pt. range. Trump is cratering.

                    • yes, it isn't looking good for him certainly. i expect there are some more twists and turns to come, but trump needs something truly unprecedented to turn things around now.

                      • What will come after Trump for the republicans? Would like to think that after the tea-party and the Donald things can only improve, but with the whole politics/media circus getting - seemingly - ever more hysteric I could be epically wrong

All signs right now show that Trump is fine taking the Republican Party down with him. He's deliberately fomenting a civil war within the party, pitting his rabid die-hards against any Republican politician who dares to turn on him. Yet, if they don't distance themselves from him, they will get sullied by his stink and start bleeding support from Independents.

I don't see any reason to believe that will end the Tea Party faction he's turned into a bunch of howler monkeys. They will be furious at the Republican "establishment" when he loses and go on the warpath.

                            Wrong, wrong, and wrong.

Focus Groups have actually sided with Clinton. The Vox Article has more to it then you think.

The debate wasn't close. And the vast majority of sampling based polls say she won. It wasn't even close.

And no, not a fan boi. Get your head out of the clouds for once.

He just tried to discredit a poll that I said is biased towards republicans. They said Mitt Romney was 5-6% ahead of Obama in 2012.

Cockney, stick to UK politics please.
