At the time, in the 1960s, say we put a price on the land at what would now be 100/acre. That would be 2.3 billion acres, so about 230 billion dollars total.
That is enough to pay for the welfare payments for about 460 thousand people.
There are 5.2 million Native Americans.
It would amount to a payment of 44k per native American in a one shot disbursement. Or, at the 9k welfare payments, about 5 years of welfare payments at 9k per year.
The debt has been paid. 5x over. The debt was paid by about 1970 - that was 45 years ago.
