    • That did not give Peter any authority to lord over people, declare holy wars etc... There's nothing in that verse that says what you are saying that it says. Peter had the authority of an apostle, and he still does, just like the other apostles.
"I give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven"!= God given authority of St Peter?

        • Why would they? The ruler who allowed (bear in mind it was a spontaneous massacre that Andronikos I Komnenos allowed to continue
So why not arrest, expel, hang the perpetrators? Are you suggesting that he approved of ethnic cleansing so long as it was the Catholics? After day one, perhaps, "maybe I should really do something about this massive ethnic cleansing? You don't kill 80k people in one day. It went on for about a month.

Uh, the reality is that is *exactly* how it was perceived by the Venetians (who saw it as a casus belli), and by the Hohenstaufens (who wanted to crusade in response).

It's highly predictable of you to try and paint the massacre of Latins as some kind of Greek plot you can use as justification to defend Catholicism again, but it doesn't actually fit into the reality. The Catholic world was so furious incidentally, that King Louis VII of France proceeded to marry one of his daughters to Andronikos.
          Which,

The ceremony took place in the Trullo Hall, in the Great Palace, on 2 March 1180
The massacre was two years after the marriage.

You are literally the worst 'historian' I've ever seen.
Still a better historian than you.

          • Could it have been homeopathy?

Show the catholics how they were treating jews, witches, pagans and all that good stuff, up to then and make them realize the errour of their ways?

            Has it been beneficial?

I'm saying he didn't really care, especially as the wave of violence helped sweep him into power. He then proceeded to murder a ****load of people and try and murder a ****load more. He was a total *******, pretty much like all the other total *******s running countries back then.

Which didn't happen, because no-one gave a **** about 'innocent lives' back then, they cared about money and power. The popes as much (if not more) than everyone else.

That was her betrothal or wedding to Alexios you uneducated idiot (she was 8 years old at the time, which says a lot about Christian values back then). She married Andronikos in 1183, a year AFTER the massacre.

              • How can Ben be so wrong?

It is because of his victimization method of argumentation?

maybe he realized that catholics are false subsequent believers and he was glad that there was a reducement of their numbers?

Seeing as he was trapped in muslamic catholics land and couldn't really express his gratitude any other way, he gave his daughter to Andronikos as thanks

It's simply because he starts out trying to prove a point and attempts to twist the history to fit. It leads him into an endless list of stupid mistakes and dishonest misrepresentations. If he truly had faith in his beliefs, he wouldn't be so desperate to find historical links to back them up.

To be fair, that's a particularly challenging task for a catholic

Not at all. We all have the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven.
