Also, the USSR was a mighty power that was (at least by his citizens) perceived to be as mighty as the USA.
Nowadays russia is just a regional mighty power and most of its former membver states are just little countries ... just names on the map ... I am sure that many of their citizens with little self-confidence longe for the time when they were still a part of something mighty.

Ellestar is right that for a long time eastern europe was under no occupation.
The restrictive measures taken in western europe vis a vis dissidents were as harsh as in communist countries.
Capitalism and democracy have nothing in common. They can exist independently and most of the time the first encroches on the second.

So the whole of eastern europe wanted to be socialist. The people, the leaders whatever.
Then this changed in the same fashion that repressive measures in western europe started to change too.

That is correct, right now almost all countries in the world have capitalism. However, capitalists of smaller or poorer countries don't have enough money or influence in countries with strong armies to start wars. Also, political fallout will probably make it unprofitable anyway. In practice, only capitalists of NATO countries can start wars for profit, and they do. It's not a coincidence that NATO countries are most vocal against Russia.

In fairness I can sympathize with that in many ways, for instance in the west its very rarely taught that America invaded Russia immediately after the revolution in 1917.

A lot of countries sent "royalist/republican" armies to try and quell the october revolution.
Some call them fascists and not royalist/republican which holds its water.

Some of those was greece france and england too.

Luckily the greeks and french started shooting eachother so the whole intervention wasn't very serious (someone from a french ship said something and the greek ship casually opened fire at them. the english commander said "stop shooting eachother you *****, we're here to quel the bolsheviks" but he was largely ignored)

Oh come on. I think i already said that i don't like retarded questions, did i? War shouldn't be profitable for people or for the government. For example, capitalists who own military-industrial complex always benefit from a war (as long as their country doesn't lose the land with their military factories, of course). That's a basic common sense. I don't need to prove it in any way to you. Either you have common sense, and you know it as well as i do, or you don't, and then you're too stupid to discuss things with me anyway, and there is no reason to try to "explain" anything to you.

Also, you can always google something like "who profited from Iraq war", and usually there is plenty of people willing to explain it to you. No need to ask me about that.
