Yes, there was systematic state sponsored doping run by the government and the country's official athletics program. Of course she wasn't doped as were not a lot of other athletes dictatorially excluded.
Nearly all americans are doped though.

Bare in mind the history here too.
Dinner was in favor of the iraq war.
Someone smashed a plane in twin towers. It was formerly paid by the US to fight against soviets.
Using the foam at the mouth that this produced, US invaded iraq under false pretenses.
This is illogical and criminal.
Now those same people (a joke or a devil, depends where you stand) have singled out russia.

Now I don't give a rat's ass for modern day hitlers so very few of the things dinner and the like spout is of interest.
I have come to appreciate though how things evolved in russia.
It is interesting.
It seems that during the yeltsin years everything that wasn't bolded down to the floor was pillaged by both russian individuals and western companies.
I am under no illusion that western companies had no problem doing that (and nobody cared in the west) and also that the west was praising yelstin (because western and domestic interests were pillaging)
Russians understood this. And thought about a solution. What can basically stop this free economy - theft?
A strong leader.
So they elected Putin.
