First, all that "Authoritarian dictator" crap is a western propaganda, forget about that.

You don't have an open democracy. You have one man who can push the country in whatever direction he pleases. Please explain in what way you are anything other than an authoritarian dictatorship?

Second, it's not ideologies who run the country, it's up to the specific persons in the end anyway. If most liberals in power were stealing so much (effectively, everything theoretically possible) that they almost destroyed a country, and Putin's team, while also stealing, does it much less - and it's backed by obvious improvements in Russian economical development, it makes no sense to change tame criminals on rampant criminals back again.

You may say what you want, leaving abroad, but the facts of life are very simple - Putin's team is just better, and liberals almost destroyed a country. Liberals had a chance, and they stolen it from themselves, together with people's money. Too bad, try again in a hundred years when several generations will change and people will forget it. Sucks to be liberals, but that's life, that's how democracy works.

Second thing, you seem to be mistaken over how much we care. Sure most decent people wanted Russia to be a democracy so its people could be happy and friendly with the world, instead of the alcoholic, paranoid bunker dwellers you seem to endlessly slide back into. If however you lot are going to buy into the most obvious propaganda campaign since North Korea's 'Our leader was born on a mountaintop blessed by snow giants' schtick, then quite frankly you deserve whatever you get.

Just be honest enough with yourself to understand that you have a staggering amount more to lose than we do. Our countries are richer than yours, our combined militaries are a lot more powerful than yours and its worth remembering that we're more than capable of being complete *******s if you push us far enough. And the combination of those things is where Putin's plan goes completely unscrewed. You push the US hard enough, they'll elect a Republican to office, he'll fill eastern Europe with tanks and missile systems again, and do everything in his power to make Russia bleed economically. Remember what happened last time Russia tried to enter into an arms race with the US?

That's normal. If some site has some unlawful article (and drugs are not "free speech"), they're sent a letter to remove it, and they have something like 2 or 3 days to do so. After that entire site is blocked. It's not that hard to delete or block one article, is it? You just spend one minute, and it's done. If they don't want to, then the only easy way to remove it is to block entire site on an internet provider level.

Let's see, Putin does what population wants him to do, and that's why his approval rating is so high. So we have an entire nation of people who want to push the country in that exact direction. That's also what's historically called "democracy".

Come on, where oligarchs come from? Privatization was carried out by the Anatoly Chubais, a liberal. Economy of Russia was controled by liberals since the fall of USSR, they have some control over it even now. Prime Minister Chernomyrdin was a liberal. Yegor Gaidar who planned many economic reforms was a liberal.

So, not only liberals gave all that property to oligarchs. It's the liberals who "reformed economy" in the way so oligarchs can just get all the profit to themselves and get it out of the country. That's exactly what we see in Ukraine, by the way. And in Russia it was stopped by Putin.
