What will Scotland do when some shires/counties vote to succeed from Scotland to remain in the U.K.? It's like how the Quebecois wanted to leave Cananda yet all the native tribes, who control a good bit of northern Quebec,stated they'd leave Quebec to rejoin Canada.

So if the day after tomorrow the "Ayes" have it, what are the chances that Great Britain will welch on the deal or manipulate conditions such that in Scotland will flounder and fail before or shortly after it achieves full independence?

I'm still hoping the majority of Scots will get over the "I hate the current incumbent government" feelings and the nationalist chest thumping to see the big picture. Economically independence would be a disaster though I am sure some of my extended family will be naively voting for it.

The only possibilities in this vein will be "**** you" smiles when/if things go pear shaped of Scotland's own making and rUK has a valid reason to not help. For example a refusal to be part of a currency union.

Scotland would never accept a deal minus the pound and includes a full undertaking of debts.

They probably won't accept a deal that doesn't permit them to have a say in English affairs while telling England to **** off in Scotland.

Disjointed as it is, are they confusing British with English colonialism? The Scots were a disproportionate force behind the former, so the point of the 'article' is befuddled.

Things started to go **** as soon as they decided not to.prevent Irish independence. They should have done what Turkey did for 35 years with the Kurdish separatists. Both the U.K. and Ireland would be better off now if they had as the U.K. would have more resources while Ireland wouldn't have suffered 60 years of economic stagnation.

I wonder if britain could indeed do that.

Let's see, first it would have to ban the language but seeing as most scotts speak english maybe that wouldn't have the dire consequences of radicalizing kurds that it had in turkey.
Second it would exclude scots from virtually all public sector offices

and the most knock down phase,
it would bomb villages etc, conduct extreme violations of human rights, torture, politically imprison etc
also have half its youth that serve obligatory in the army go down south and be part of a regular war with full casualties.

The UK simply couldn't do what turkey was doing.
First because it would be thrown out of every organization like the EU and would be condemned on a regular basis internationally.
Also, because manily, that would be out of character.

The only reason kurds are not a separate entity in turkey is because of western arms supplies and criminal tolerance. that may fly in anatolia if you are a "strategic partner for peace" but it won't fly in europe (not even in ukraine)
