I spend too much time writing for American audiences. I draw the line at leaving out letters though.

      • Liberian authorities say they plan to prosecute the man infected with Ebola who brought the disease to the United States, saying he lied on his airport health questionnaire.

With an Ebola crisis raging in West Africa, passengers leaving Liberia are being screened for fever and are asked if they have had contact with anyone infected.

On the questionnaire obtained by The Associated Press, Thomas Eric Duncan answered 'no' to those questions.

          • Aww bless, someone doesn't actually realize that British Airways is a private company, and not a state run organization.
Which doesn't answer the question. British Airways is a private company. So is United. Why shouldn't United ban flights from Liberia? Does that make British Airways 'childish'?

If it's good enough for British Airways, it's good enough for me.

It answers the question about you having lied when you said it was the UK government that was restricting travel, and undermines your demand for the US government to also bring in a ban.

As for your new point, what if United don't want to ban flights? Given that you frequently insist that companies would be free from government interference, I assume you'd be fine with them not banning flights from Liberia?

              • Are you calling British Airways "childish" for banning flights to Liberia? If not, why not?

                    • This incident and the possible patient in Hawaii do bring up an interesting point. a) Would a travel ban to/from the affected countries be advisable? b) Would it be logistically possible?

Yes, and yes. Probably the easiest way is to pull the visas to everyone from Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.

Gee. I'm a teacher. 5 schools in the Dallas ISD have already received warnings. What are the odds and how long would it be before it would start showing up in my school? How big would the contacts have to get before this is more likely than not?

Given the present progression of the disease when could I expect to see this occur?

Do the math, sava. I've already rolled a couple of natural 1's. Two more is all it would take.
