Well it is a frightening disease. It is a level 4 biohazard after all. Thankfully though it isn't airborne, making outbreaks containable with proper measures.

Given the present progression of the disease when could I expect to see this occur?

Do the math, sava. I've already rolled a couple of natural 1's. Two more is all it would take.

Yeah, gee. I suppose if I were selfish I'd be telling parents to 'stop being crybabies'.

Measures which sensible people should already be taking. I'm surprised Sava's so blasé. United flies through O'Hare all the time.

          • I'm glad to see BK so concerned about how we treat viruses. After all, if he gets this worried about a virus that has only killed about 5000 people since its discovery, think how worried he must be about one that kills 270,000 people per year.

My response will be exactly as it is now, to trust the medical professionals and disease control specialists to do their job. Seriously, you sound extremely stupid when you're saying you know more about this stuff than the CDC does.

If you were a proper teacher you'd be reassuring the parents and children about the incredibly low risk, and not running around waving your hands in the air and wailing like an idiot.

Wasn't I already insulted by Sava for insisting that you get tested before having sex? That disease has a very specific method of transmission. This one has a wider range. More has to be done.

Then why is British Airways shutting down flights to Liberia? Are they crybabies or simply taking sensible precautions?

The most sensible precaution parents can take is to limit their contacts. We'll know more in a few days, likely by Monday. So, keep your kids home Thursday and Friday, enjoy your long weekend and bring them in when we have a better idea just how far this has spread.

If everyone in Dallas did this, this would be stopped in it's tracks.

Why bull****? Isolation is the best way to prevent transmission. You can't catch what you're not exposed to.

Oh, and by the way, when this hit, I was the only one predicting that transmission here was likely. When the dude that everyone thought was wrong is actually right, people start listening to him more.

You were screaming about American victims being brought back to the US under extremely careful conditions to be treated at US facilities where they could get the best care available. Despite all your whining, absolutely nothing bad happened as a result of it, other than you being exposed once again as a callous ***** who doesn't give a toss about anyone but himself.

In fact, access to the patient allowed them to *develop/test the treatment.

*I'm sure development was going on for a much longer time before, but nevertheless.

And it's here now. I stated that it would set a precedent. It has. Infected Liberians come here for treatment. Had they been placed in quarantine elsewhere, nobody would be trying to get on a plane to America. All the money that's getting poured into it now, is going to be spent 10-fold now that it's here. How is that a good return on investment?

Is setting up a secure facility in a fairly remote location expensive? Yes. But it's a helluva lot less expensive than what we have now.

America sure as hell ain't gonna be paying for **** in Liberia with American children at home getting sick.

We have Ebola here. So I was right. it set a precedent and it's here.

as a callous ***** who doesn't give a toss about anyone but himself.
Yes, I see. If I were a callous ****, I'm sure I'd not bother calling every person on the flights exposed to ebola. I suppose I'd not be giving a call into Brussels and telling them to start contact tracing. Same with Dulles. Same with DFW airport.

I would be giving them platitudes as to 'it's impossible that you got sick'.

I suppose I'd be telling parents, "not to worry" instead of telling them the truth. Is there a possibility with this sack of **** walking around in Dallas for a week that Ebola is already here? Yes.

I can't in good conscience put my students at risk. We'll know more on Monday and can re-evaluate then.

I'm very confident there is absolutely no danger of this.
Mhmm. Is that something you're willing to risk your life over? You're already wrong about it showing up in America. That's a big hit to your credibility.

And how is that a superior outcome to treatment at a facility not in the US? You're arguing that this is the only way such samples could be obtained.

As it is, it's a mistake that will cost American lives. How many? We don't know. If they get off their asses and start hauling them, this can be corralled.

Best way to break it for good in Dallas is to camp out for the weekend at home.

He must have had an incredible degree of foresight, given that he was tested before getting on the plane like all travellers and showed no symptoms. I suppose his girlfriend living in Dallas also had no bearing on why he was visiting the US.

You haven't done any of those things. I've no idea where that last bit came from btw, are you experiencing any other symptoms of delusion? Perhaps you should nip down to the local hospital and get yourself checked.

Oh Mr Duncan is a 'sack of ****' is he? An interesting take on the kind of man Mr Duncan is..

The New York Times reported Thursday that Duncan had direct contact with a pregnant woman stricken with Ebola on September 15, days before he left for the United States. Citing the woman's parents and Duncan's neighbors in Monrovia, Liberia, the newspaper said Duncan had helped carry the ailing woman home after a hospital turned her away because there wasn't enough space in its Ebola treatment ward.

Uh. He handled a girl who died from Ebola the next day. I don't think it's hard to figure out that you've caught Ebola. Then he falsified his traveler's report and said that he had no contact with anyone with Ebola.

Now we're supposed to believe him when he says he was asymptomatic? **** that. Do it anyway, call up all the other folks on the flights and start doing your job with contact tracing. Guran damn tee that it will come in handy. Even if everyone is well, then it helps to establish his timeline. Even null data is useful. If you're right, you save many, many people's lives.

I'm sure all the Dallas parents are going to thank him for his 'kindness' in lying to the screeners in Liberia.

This sack of **** also exposed all 5 of his girlfriend's children. I'm sorry, whatever religion he is, he's going to answer for it.

My job is to protect my students and the best way to do that is to prevent them from getting exposed. Not to fly halfway across the planet and infect them all.
