Sava's thesis stated that the Catholic church had rates of 10 percent which is far beyond those of the public school system. After correcting his numbers (it's around 1 percent), and it's not out of line with schoolteachers in America.

Which puts to lie his entire thesis that one, there's a crisis of abuse in the Catholic church as opposed to the rest of society (false), and two, that state resources are best supplied to correct the Catholic church and not to correct the public schools which they pay and run.

If one is willing to charge all Catholics with the crimes of a few - then the state should be a willing party to sexual abuse cases within the school system. You should be able to charge the State of California millions of dollars for suffering sexual abuse in public schools.

Which, btw, you cannot do, because the State of California cannot be a party. So I see no reason why the same protections should not also apply to the Catholic church and the Vatican as a whole.
