I'll admit that I'm late to thread but...
1. It seems too me that the Vatican actually has the most accurate numbers on child molestation among there clergy and they're not singing.
2. Ben you seem to being going by convictions rates as compared to conviction rates in the general populace..Why would that be a fair comparison. Really it would have to be something like male school teachers where they have power and access too little boys but even that is not a good comparison because the School Teachers also have access/permission too adult ***** or dick depending on preference. But if you wanted to make a comparison it would have too be something like that.
3. Percentages are very impersonal. So I would ask you Ben, how many boys have too get molested by Catholic Priests before you considered it too be a significant problem in the Catholic Church?
4. Why do you think that there has been so much attention placed on Catholic Priests ****ing boys as opposed to Men Teachers ****ing boys http://www.menteach.org/resources/da...t_men_teachers ?
5. What about all the times the Catholic Church has settled civil suits on this issue, that is not counted into conviction rates.
As a Teacher, Christian, Man, and whatever else you may consider yourself...don't you think child molestation amongst the clergy should be addressed? Don't you think that the Vatican should release all the information they have concerning this specific criminal acts to local legal authorities and let the law decide?

Bennie wants to claim "it's no big deal" and wants to ignore that the Church was covering it up, threatening victims, moving priests else where so they could continue doing it...
I guess to him, it's not really an issue or problem.
Keep on Civin'
RIP rah, Tony Bogey, Baron O and Slowwhand
also, BK could defuse/defeat a lot of the ire directed at the RCC by not defending child rape (or the lack of action against it internally)
or even just saying, "yeah. It's a problem. They should fix it."
I mean, if a priest at my church was doing that, you wouldn't have to solicit me for that kind of response. It just boggles my mind that anything but complete and utter outrage could possibly be a human reaction to this story. And for someone who claims to be a Christian, he sure shows an awful lot of "I don't give a ****" about the victims.
And Bennie wants to keep claiming that it was limited to just a few people... to NAME NAMES...
Well, he said to start a thread, but this one seems appropriate. I'll just reprint the Molly Bloom post he decided to ignore since it was in an NBA thread...
The truth you shy away from :
"The torture hearing comes as members of Pope Francis’ new sexual abuse advisory board promised on Saturday to develop "clear and effective" ways to make bishops accountable if they fail to report suspected abuse or protect children from predatory clergy.
The board is made up of four men and four women, including an Irish survivor of clerical sexual abuse, Marie Collins, and Cardinal Sean O’Malley of Boston (pictured together above). O’Malley said church rules had obviously "not been sufficient" and admitted that some senior church members remain "in denial" about abuse and coverups. He said there must be zero tolerance for perpetrators and those who protect them.
Asked about the policy of Italian bishops, who have asserted they have no duty to report suspected abuse to police, O’Malley said, "These are the kinds of issues we will assess. Obviously, accountability should not be dependent upon legal obligations when there is a moral obligation."
Pope Francis has apologised to survivors and called the abuse evil. "
Leaders of the Catholic Church face another public grilling over the global scandal of child sex abuse by priests, with a UN panel meeting in Geneva on Monday and Tuesday expected to examine the church’s…
This kind of truth :
"The bishop of Bruges, Roger Vangheluwe, resigned in April 2010 after admitting that he had sexually abused a boy for years when he was a priest and after being made a bishop.
The scandal drew in the former head of the Catholic Church in Belgium, Cardinal Godfried Danneels, who had advised the victim in April not to go public with his story until Vangheluwe had retired in 2011.
After the Vangheluwe case came to light, a commission set up to investigate the extent of abuse in the Belgian Church received a flood of calls."
and this :
"Two major reports into allegations of paedophilia among Irish clergy last year revealed the shocking extent of abuse, cover-ups and hierarchical failings involving thousands of victims, and stretching back decades.
In one, four Dublin archbishops were found to have effectively turned a blind eye to cases of abuse from 1975 to 2004.
The Dublin archdiocese, it said, operated in a culture of concealment, placing the integrity of its institutions above the welfare of the children in its care.
In the wake of the report, all Irish bishops were summoned to the Vatican to give an account of themselves in person before the Pope.
Four bishops, named in the report, handed in their resignations. The Pope accepted two but told the other two he wanted them to continue."
and this:
"Since the start of 2010, at least 300 people have made allegations of sexual or physical abuse by priests across the Pope's home country.
Claims are being investigated in 18 of Germany's 27 Roman Catholic dioceses.
Accusations include the abuse of more than 170 children by priests at Jesuit schools, three Catholic schools in Bavaria, and within the Regensburg Domspatzen school boys' choir that was directed for 30 years by Monsignor Georg Ratzinger, the Pope's brother.
In June, prosecutors said they were investigating the head of Germany's Roman Catholic bishops. Archbishop Robert Zollitsch of Freiburg is suspected of allowing the re-appointment of a priest accused of child abuse in 1987. The archdiocese rejected the charge.
In March, Father Peter Hullermann, who was convicted of molesting boys during his time in the archdiocese of Munich and Freising, was suspended from his duties after breaching a ban on working with children.
Days earlier, the Pope's former diocese said Benedict had unwittingly approved housing for Fr Hullermann when serving as archbishop of Munich; the Vatican denounced what it called "aggressive" efforts to link the Pope to the scandal."
and this:
"Separately, the head of a Salzburg monastery, Bruno Becker, resigned after confessing to having abused a boy 40 years ago, when he was a monk."
A summary of sex abuse scandals involving the Catholic Church around the world.
and this :
"Run by the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity, High Park Convent was the site of Ireland’s largest Magdalene Laundry. Until well into the twentieth century, girls deemed to be “difficult” – because they were sexually active, or sexually abused, or simply poor – were sent to laundries by their families or the state. Despite having committed no crime, they were not allowed to leave the institutions and were forced to work for no pay, making them literally slaves. Many women spent their entire lives there, remaining long after the actual laundries closed down. They had nowhere else to go."
As a child, Anna Carey saw the dead-eyed women who had been forced to work for free in the laundries sit among the congregation at Mass, seen and yet ignored. Now, as the religious orders responsible refuse to contribute towards financial compensation, it
So, covering up child abuse internationally and employing slave labour in the Irish Republic- all in a day's work for the Roman Catholic hierarchy.

Since people seem to believe that praying for his intercession will automatically cure them of illness, I suggest they try it.
If they're believing Roman Catholics, I suggest they skip the whole Western medicine nonsense.
After all, a supernatural deity is clearly much more powerful than antibacterials, antifungals, antivirals and cholesterol lowering compounds...
Still it's good to see that Sister Bendy thinks science is infallible when it comes to the diagnosing the illnesses of those Catholics who claim to have been cured of them by saintly/divine intercession.
Perhaps they were all Catholic physicians....
