It's sickening. I heard last night that the most recent report said that in the last decade 3,500 priests were confirmed to have been perpetrators of child molestation/abuse/rape.

There are 41,406 priests in the RCC according to Wiki.

There are around 750k convicted sex offenders in the US. The rate of sex abusers amongst priests is still frighteningly higher than the average population... and the "sex offenders" included lots of bull**** like public urination, 19 yr old guy having sex with his 17 yr old girlfriend. Heck, even the number of creepy *******s who just get caught with child porn but never have actually hurt a child. And I'm not sure I buy the "it fuels demand" argument either. Images of gruesome war violence is pretty ****ing awful, and that's not illegal to watch... and lots of sick *******s masturbate to **** like that too.

1 percent conviction rates are not out of line. If there's 750k abusers in the United States, that's a quarter of a percent of the total population. But only about a quarter are adult men.
