Except for John Malkovich's, you cannot live someone else's life. Only your own.

I realized quite a long time ago that needing goals was necessary for my happiness. It is not, however, sufficient.

Live your own then and be happy (in your lobotomized world in my opinion but I also don't shave from time to time) and leave others live their own.

What is stopping you from getting a haircut, shaving, and ironing your clothes right now? What is stopping you from doing some pushups and running around the block. Do it for a few days just for ****s and giggles and who knows how you will feel

At least they're not so ****ed up that they can't appear civilized. My glasses are held together with wire from a spiral notebook and I haven't gotten a haircut in months and I haven't shaved in weeks and my clothes are a wrinkled mess and I need to lose weight and there are bags under my eyes because I don't sleep and... yeah. At least my possibly suffering friends can keep up appearances.
Then get a haircut and shave. That's two less things to hate yourself over.

My brain. I can do those things, but summoning the effort to is hard.

When I got home from work, I cleaned up my desk, which was littered with 26 cans/bottles of Mountain Dew, a plate crusted with the two-week old remains of a pizza, and a fork and spoon that had been reused for a variety of meals. Doing that was exhausting in a way that has absolutely nothing at all to do with me being out of shape. That's what depression is about, Speer--having so little that energy that maintaining a clean living space becomes a daunting task that you can literally fail. Doing more than that is even harder still.

                    • Hey I'm sorry if I seemed too aggresive.
I've been to the army and loved (kind of) the "bow down to the cross and kill" mentality. The discipline mentality that is.
However, that's what's great about democracy, no hierarchy, each worth is measured by himself etc
However, discipline, Al b. style can be beneficial, no objections to that.

Not everyone can do this. Whenever I tried, for example, my urge to procrastinate would look at it and say, "oh! a challenge!"

                        Timetables are not for everyone.

You did that. Be happy in that. Tomorrow, do something else. It's like there's a team of horses pulling you back, I know. Take satisfaction in these little victories.

That the person is too absorbed in their work to waste time on non-essential trivial tasks.

                              Spoiler:
not saying what that work is ...
