Majority of Catholics are from countries that either still have a king, or colonies of Spain and Portugal alone. I'm just not seeing the argument that Catholics inherently are anti-monarchist especially given the experience of Catholics in republican France and in the United States.

Given as they restored the King in Spain? They could have chosen to dump him altogether but they did not. Same with Portugal, Brazil for a time housed the King of Portugal. I was a bit surprised myself to hear the argument, but if your choice is a junta or a constitutional monarch with centuries of history, the choice seems pretty obvious to me.

I've made my argument, and cited historical evidence in favor of my argument that when given the choice between a republican system and a monarchy, Catholics have generally chosen a monarchy.

Your argument is what? American Catholics aren't monarchists? American Catholics aren't representative of anything. America's not a majority Catholic country. It doesn't have the historical influence of Catholicism or the pope in terms of governance. If anything, America is the polar opposite. America is representative of majority protestant republicanism, and it is the greatest example of the influence that protestants have on the political process and the preference protestants in general have for republican institutions.

Give me a better example of a protestant republican nation? I can't think of one.
