  • All I'm taking away from this is that you're a British Ben Kenobi. You'd rather talk about the past than acknowledge that the present is any different.
I'm still a subject of the Queen, and I'm of English extraction.

    • It's probably because so many racist, homophobic ****bags like yourself seem to gravitate to the place.
Ahh, England, that oasis of tolerance and understanding.

      • The original meaning of the creation story is lost. All we have is interpretations
So we're supposed to conclude that the places in which Moses erred, coincide precisely with modernist critiques of Genesis? Cool story, bro.

You'd think a "true Christian" would have love in his heart for everyone and accept any greeting in the spirit in which it was given.

They're arrogant for getting mad at people who dont call it Christmas. I mean, Christians adopted a pagan celebration of the solstice and now they get upset when others dont call it Christmas?

The solistice is the twenty fifth? News to me.

Are you also going to attack passover as a pagan celebration of spring? If not, why not?

Uhh... no, Jews do not insist on saying "merry Christmas", and your fake quote doesn't make it so.

                  • We haven't even touched on the possibility that Jesus was born in the spring, rather than in the winter.

Do you think Jesus was born on the 25th? Happy Holidays refers to a period during which Christmas falls, it also includes various celebrations before and after the solstice, including New Year celebrations. Merry Christmas refers to the 25th, why say it before the 25th? You say Merry Christmas and I say it isn't Christmas.

He was born a few days after the solstice (just like the Sun as it heads north), Christmas is a "recent" variant of worldwide solstice celebrations. This celebration might be as old as mankind, people all over the world feared the Sun would not return so just about everyone had/has prayers and celebrations.

Are you also going to attack passover as a pagan celebration of spring? If not, why not?
Attack? Passover is tied in with the vernal equinox. Why does it surprise you that more recent religions celebrate certain days and periods that were being celebrated even further into the past? People have been watching the sky far longer than Christians celebrating Christmas.

Yes, I do. I don't see any evidence that the Christians co-opted the Solistice given that the Solistice was celebrated long after Christianity came about. There is evidence for Christian celebration of the feast to a quite early period.

Lets be honest here - would we be celebrating it if it weren't Christmas? No.

Good question. Do stores put their Christmas decorations up on the 25th? If not, why not.

A Christian would argue that it celebrates the birth of Christ who was born on the 25th and not the solistice.

What? The celebration of Christ's nativity?

So why would Christians celebrate the death of the sun when we don't think the sun is a God?

Do you really think the stores would have their stuff out for 'winter solistice'? If not, why not?

Have you read the actual account of the Passover?

Yes, and the solistice is not the 25th. What's so hard to understand about that?

I say to Christians and others who celebrate Christmas, don’t worry about your Jewish friends and acquaintances, we are just fine. The overwhelming majority of us will respond with a cheery “Merry Christmas” back at you.
Like most Jews in America, I don’t take offense when someone wishes me a Merry Christmas.
