FACT, NOT A MORAL'S CLAUSE VIOLATIONS CASE. NO RELEVANCE.

You're saying there's a difference that one is protected by the First and the other is not. Why? How are they different, Ming?
Religion vs breaking a morals clause for hateful comments

Where does A+E distinguish between those parts and 1 Corinthians 9?
Where do they say he was suspended for quoting the bible.

I see no evidence for A+E making your argument. Ergo, as you have failed to cite A+E distinguishing between 1 Corinthians 9 and the remainder of the interview, I can only conclude that there is no evidence to support your position.
You have provided no evidence to support your argument. The nice thing for Networks that make people sign morals clauses is that it's up to them what violates them.
They have stated that it was it his anti gay comments, not that he was simply quoting the bible.

Did A+E say that 'certain parts of the interview were offensive, but not the part citing 1 Corinthians 9?'

If so, I'd like to see evidence of this.
I'd like to see evidence stating that it was specifically his bible quotes... good luck.

I cited Steyn already. Just because the case destroys yours doesn't make it 'irrelevent'. Well, I suppose that's a convenient way to argue.
I suppose it's convenient to you to keep using a NON MEDIA MORALS CLAUSE CASE to some how think it's relevant.
IS YOUR EXAMPLE A MEDIA MORALS CLAUSE CASE... the answer is simple... NO it isn't and not relevant to the discussion.

Where is there evidence that advertisers are pulling out? Cracker Barrel tried and have come back in. If anything, there's a massive backlash against A+E, and the advertisers who pull out rather than those who stay in.
When the interview came out, advertisers were outraged and complained to A&E.
An expert on the subject states... Ultimately, it doesn't matter what conservative fans may think, said another veteran crisis publicist, Michael Levine. A&E had no choice but to suspend Robertson, he said. If the network didn't, it would have had to deal with complaints from gay rights groups that would have made advertisers skittish and damaged the "Duck Dynasty" brand.

"The advertisers, the brand, people would stop buying 'Duck Dynasty' merchandise," he said. "At a certain point the brand just becomes radioactive."

Most of the EXPERTS on this topic agree with this point of view. A&E did what it had to do.

You're a terrible businessman Ming. You actually think that starting a war and suspending Phil was good business, as opposed to shutting up and just raking in the cash. I suppose you saw the fairy tale of the Goose laying Golden eggs as model practice for proper business expansion!
Your lack of knowledge of the Advertising Business is no surprise since you have no experience in that area.
But feel free to continue to disagree with experts in the field. That's what all the people here have come to expect from you...

    • Ming: How does one claim his comments represent an existential threat to the brand that warrants his removal from the show and then proceed to launch into a long marathon of episodes featuring him? Morals clause claims seem a little specious here.

Are they really still calling themselves "Arts and Entertainment Network" or have they gone the way of TLC, which is now just TLC, full stop, and no longer an acronym for "The Learning Channel".
What else would A&E stand for? "Accidents & Emergency"?

Oh. So the employer can simply fire at will? I wonder how that plays in certain states.

They have stated that it was it his anti gay comments, not that he was simply quoting the bible.
Have they specified that the biblical comments weren't considered to be anti-gay?

When the interview came out, advertisers were outraged and complained to A&E.
Which advertisers? All that has been said is that some other A+E employees complained. Once again, your argument has zero correlation with the facts.

And fans are outraged and complained when he was suspended.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter what conservative fans may think, said another veteran crisis publicist, Michael Levine. A&E had no choice but to suspend Robertson, he said. I'm reading other network execs saying that A+E made a rookie mistake here, and boxed themselves into a no-win situation. They thought that A+E made a poor decision in starting a fight where they lacked any substantial leverage. They suggested the same thing I suggested, to simply shut up and let the show go on. They also suggest we'll see an official apology from A+E sometime before the next season starts when the holidays are over.

Most of the EXPERTS on this topic agree with this point of view. A&E did what it had to do.
Which is why Duck Dynasty sales are up. The other network execs are saying that A+E were morons because they 'didn't understand their audience'. First three rules, Know your performers, know your audience and the third one, shut the hell up. Don't let your ego kill the goose. Do gay people watch Duck Dynasty? No? Then you tell them to take a flying leap off a short pier.

Your lack of knowledge of the Advertising Business is no surprise since you have no experience in that area.
I've worked as an ad man. And did quite well at it. I wasn't let go for poor sales, but I left so I could move back and look after my family.

In any case, there are network execs that back me up here.

But feel free to continue to disagree with experts in the field. That's what all the people here have come to expect from you...
Meh, I know what I'm doing here. And I trust the others who also know what the hell they are doing here. I'm a bit shocked that you believe A+E 'did what they had to do'. I think they are total morons to even pick this fight in the first place. Hell, Vince McMahon isn't a moron. He understands principle 2 even if he doesn't get 3. Know your fricken audience!

          • Why are you guys putting so much energy into this? Phil Robertson is not a victim, nor is he the anti-christ.

              • If the mods had simply curbstomped BK, this thread would have died in less than a dozen posts. Some dude who looks like ZZ Top, but does not play fun raucous music, expressed an unfashionable opinion. Apparently he's on that one show my kids think I should watch. This unfashionable opinion made the show's makers angry, and now they are punishing him. Or possibly pretending to punish him to generate controversy/publicity. Either way, nobody involved will suffer in any significant way--I understand this dude's a multimillionaire from sales of duck calls, etc.--and it wouldn't much matter if they did.

                • How old are your kids again? Do they like the show because it involves ducks?

                  • Sorry, ambiguous post. The rural middle-schoolers I sub (I sometimes think of them as "my kids") constantly ask if I watch Duck Dynasty, and are boggled when I tell them it doesn't interest me. Sometimes I tell them I don't even have a TV right now, and that just blows their minds.
