What is it, 70 million on Medicaid or something?
Oh so it's a bigger government healthcare program than the NHS.Jon Miller: MikeH speaks the truth

I agree "almost" is subjective. I contend that it correctly captured my meaning (which I have just clarified). But whatever. If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

NHS budget = £95.6bn ~ $150bn for 60m people
Medicaid budget = $415bn for 70m people.
Wow. Wouldn't actually cost that much more per year to scrap medicaid and insurance and give everyone an NHS, and everyone would be better off. Obviously a terrible idea.Jon Miller: MikeH speaks the truth

Oh yeah, also, medicaid should be vouchers, which would put medicaid patients on the private insurance market. Such people would be best off getting low deductible plans of course. Would also make medicaid drastically more efficient, allowing it to pay doctors more. Medicaid patients would get better care and taxpayers would pay less.If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

I do know that medicaid probably covers more people than it should. I would say if you are making more than 35,000 a year you probably should get catastrophic coverage. That's a ballpark. I'm being conservative, most likely it should be lower. Median income is something like 40 or 50k iirc.
I'm just trying to get a sense of what you mean by "almost". In my opinion, you have a habit of choosing words poorly, which ends up backing you into corners you don't necessarily want to be in."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine

HC, do me a favour. You think you're a reasonable person willing to look into the facts of an issue rather than just spout bull**** right? Just spend 10 minutes reading through that blog article Mike linked to, and almost more importantly the comments below it. See if the experiences people describe sound a little different to your experiences of healthcare.
