Is there still any point to the US President having to be a natural-born citizen of the United States?

Though it's a bit redundant since not even Republicans are dumb/crazy enough to nominate Ben.

Harper or Obama, which do you prefer?
I came to America because I hope one day to eventually be governed by one.

As for the comparison Harper. Harper spends about 1/10th of what Obama has and Harper has Canada in better fiscal shape.

The real question is Perry or Christy Clark? Perry, by a landslide.

Texas vs BC is the big difference. I could have gone to AB, but, aside from all my friends living there (both best friends, most of my friends in college), there's nothing there for me. If I was going to leave all my family behind- I preferred to go to the states.

It doesn't make much sense, but I don't see folks expending the effort to change the Constitution on it.

          Well, maybe Arnie supporters.

Actually I just checked and you're quite right. I'm guessing they ducked going the whole way just yet because it is going to create a massive headache regarding the head of the CoE and all that. There's apparently already a lot of complaints about it not being included in the current round of changes though.

Just a guess but I'd expect at some point they'll have to decouple the head of the CoE from the monarchy and replace it with some fluffy 'defender of faiths' line or something. How long it will take could depend on whether there's any likelihood of a Catholic getting near the throne. It's more likely to happen if there's a realistic chance of it affecting someone and the public get roused about it, than if its just some obscure religious thing no-one cares about.

Disestablishment will happen, and it will happen within 20 years. There's no need for the monarch to be the head of the COE.

I did think it was quite likely, I now see I was wrong.

No, there's no point, especially because of how poorly defined the term is.

I think it's no longer necessary, but requires a constitutional amendment to change.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

They might as well change that stupid gun thing whilst they are at it.

Like anything else concerning the Constitution and/or The Freaking Founders, the natural-born citizen requirement for President is sacrosanct and will never change.

It may mean that foreigners like Schwarzenegger and Ted Cruz are forced into appointive positions, thus depriving the U.S. of their incredible intelligence and wisdom, but that's just something we'll have to live with.
