Now you see, this is homophobic, and it makes Christianity look bad, and I feel ashamed by association.

I don't know. When you consider that Christianity pretty much came with the coming of Christ, and the Old Testament was before that, I could call it barking mad.Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

the courts looked at the facts of the case and decided that the BCTF's actions were reasonable and within the law.Originally posted by Ben Kenobi View PostIt's a violation of the Canadian constitution to have prior restraint on free expression of speech. Others have fought this on similar grounds (Boissoin and Whatcott) are two, and both won their cases, although I believe Whatcott had to relocate. In any case, Kempling seems far happier teaching in a private school which is their gain and a loss to the public sector. Arguing that him writing letters to the editor in his time as a private citizen constitutes 'conduct unbecoming for a teacher' is just code words for politics in another language.

i'll take their word over yours.

it seems that the BCTF's mandate is also to demand certain standards of behaviour from teachers. chris kempling couldn't keep his bigotry towards homosexuals under control (or at least couldn't shut up about it), and was punished for it.Let's be clear here - the complainant wasn't the principal, the administration, fellow teachers, his students or the parents involved. The complaint came from the BCTF itself. Given that the mandate of the BCTF which Kempling was required to pay dues, is to protect their teachers, this is a violation of their own conduct.

chris kempling believed, as you do, that they acted improperly. he took them to court and lost. i don't see what's hard to understand about this."The Christian way has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found to be hard and left untried" - GK Chesterton.

So you suspend an excellent teacher who's taught for 20 years and blackball them from their profession. How is this a good outcome? Nobody who worked with the man complained, be it staff, parents or children. As a political witchhunt it was excellent, but one would expect a free country to give a fair hearing.the courts looked at the facts of the case and decided that the BCTF's actions were reasonable and within the law.

Then they ought to refund Kempling's dues paid. There's a conflict of interest in that Kempling was forced to fund and depend upon the regulatory body for his employment while at the same time facing them as his accuser. They cannot uphold their primary duty to represent the interest of Kempling.it seems that the BCTF's mandate is also to demand certain standards of behaviour from teachers.

Which is why there were no classroom incidents? How does the BCTF have the power to regulate what Kempling does in his spare time? This is a gross overreach of their mandate.chris kempling couldn't keep his bigotry towards homosexuals under controlScouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

You know what else is almost certainly actionable?Originally posted by Ben Kenobi View PostPretty sure that's an actionable statement. You might be unaware of recent Ontario law, but Ontario now considers this to be defamation.

I'm not an atheist.Originally posted by SlowwHand View PostI think it's cute when atheists try to argue with Christians and use the Old Testament as their cite. I mean, how stupid is that?

BS. I`d never pass through their doors again.Originally posted by Boris Godunov View PostRestaurants should just charge a standard gratuity for all tables and prohibit any additional tipping. It's the best way.

A gratuity is based upon level of service. Period.

I'm more interested in the demeanour and ability of the waiting staff than their political opinions or sexual orientations. If they're grumpy, inattentive or spill hot soup on my crotch, then the tip is reduced accordingly.Originally posted by Ben Kenobi View PostQuestion - if your server were to wear a tea party pin - would liberals justify not tipping them because of 'poor service'?
