If you reject the bible on say, what Christ says on marriage in Matthew 19, what justification do you have to accept the letters of Paul? Or the sermon on the mount? It stretches credibility to argue they got this one part wrong and everything else right - and that includes the resurrection.

I had the same answer as you and faced this exact same question. Jesus isn't saying that this is a side teaching, he's arguing that our very history as people, as creation of God, that this is an intrinsic part of our nature. That is his argument in Matthew 19, when he says, "he made them male and female". When he says "cleave", he is speaking a very precise word that means a man and a woman joining together in union to form one person. He says, "Where two become one flesh". it's very clear to me that he's talking about the sexual union of a man and a woman and that this joins the two together spiritually and physically.

It is a very important passage of the bible.

That isn't what Genesis says:

And Jehovah God causeth a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he sleepeth, and He taketh one of his ribs, and closeth up flesh in its stead. 22 And Jehovah God buildeth up the rib which He hath taken out of the man into a woman, and bringeth her in unto the man; 23 and the man saith, `This [is] the [proper] step! bone of my bone, and flesh of my flesh!' for this it is called Woman, for from a man hath this been taken; 24 therefore doth a man leave his father and his mother, and hath cleaved unto his wife, and they have become one flesh. 25 And they are both of them naked, the man and his wife, and they are not ashamed of themselves.

God took Adam's rib to form the woman, thats why a man leaves his parents to be one with his wife. Actually God kicked them out of the Garden for having children, thats what the fig leaves symbolize. They were naked and unashamed, then Eve became pregnant and God couldn't help but notice.

That raises an interesting question: if Adam and Eve were having sex before and God didn't mind, what changed? Children. God saw his Garden was about to be over run by Adam and Eve's descendents. Therefore it was the Serpent who was responsible for Adam and Eve having children.
