I still don't see how killing baby girls through sex-selection abortion advances the cause of feminism. It seems barbaric to me.

The country strongly prefers boys at every stage of life. Here's how some mothers are trying to change that.

I'm not quite sure why 'feminism' supports killing unborn girls before they get big enough to defend themselves.
The usual illogical emotive argument- you're assuming that the foetus would in every instance develop naturally enough to progress to birth- nature has a way of killing foetuses all of its own.
Secondly you're assuming that the baby would not be anencephalic, for instance, or so severly disabled that prolonging its life artifically would be a waste of time and resources and emotionally harmful to the mother or parents. And no, I'm not being callous- medical staff have to make these kind of decisions all the time.
Thirdly the notion that 'Feminism' is somehow in favour of 'killing the unborn' is so patently grotesque only someone as skilled in misrepresenation as you could express it, especially in that absurdly overstated fashion. I'm not quite sure how even a well-armed girl could defend herself against 'Feminism'...

No. He isn't. He's assuming that the fetus has a value independent of it's future birth.

Why wouldn't feminism be in favor of "killing the unborn?" Do you think abortion would not be legal if it weren't for feminism?

Which is ?
Why wouldn't feminism be in favor of "killing the unborn?"
Why should it be ? What on earth does terminating a foetus have to do with the philosophy of feminism ? Feminism is at heart the treatement of women as equals of men- not as Adam's handmaidens or lesser beings.
Do you think abortion would not be legal if it weren't for feminism?
It has more to do with an interpretation of the philosophy of 'natural rights' in my opinion.

The natural right, you mean like the natural right to life? Feminism isn't about natural rights. It's about promoting women above everyone else. It's about making men more obligated to them. Making men less free, and killing babies.

The only reason that it's even possible for abortion to be legal is because it's something that men can't do. It's only legal, of course, for women. If a man killed his child he would be given the death penalty.

Holy **** at least Ben offered some textual evidence for his interpretation of 'feminism'....
We've been over this. You still think feminism is about rights for women even though I've asked you to provide evidence of a right that women don't have. So why are there still feminists if women have the same rights as men?

If you talk about "rights" you're essentially talking about "equality before the law" which is more or less the case in the US (in spite of the fact that the ERA was defeated) but that doesn't mean feminism as a social movement with the objective of equal treatment by society regardless of sex is obsolete.
The usual illogical emotive argument- you're assuming that the foetus would in every instance develop naturally enough to progress to birth- nature has a way of killing foetuses all of its own.
Then why must we intervene? If nature will kill them then abortion is wholly unnecessary. Or does 'nature', include the abortionist?

I might as well quote Tolkein here.
Many that live deserve death. And some die that deserve life. Can you give it to them?
Can you decide whom shall live and whom shall die? Where do you draw the line? Who is useless and who is not?
and emotionally harmful to the mother or parents.
Oh. I see. So it's ok for the mother to kill her child when she believes the child would impose an emotional burden on her?
So what you are saying is that every abortion ever is justified because of the inconvenience of the child. Would this reasoning apply to born children? No. Ergo - I conclude that you are assuming the unborn child is not a person and thus, not worthy of the same protections that you and I possess. This is despite the fact that we are alive today (or at least I am, I'm not sure how old you are), because my mother had the choice to have an abortion and chose to keep me.
Thirdly the notion that 'Feminism' is somehow in favour of 'killing the unborn'
Anytime a self-professed 'feminist' argues for abortion rights, yes, yes this is the case.

Feminism has nothing to do with equality. Men and women aren't equal, and no feminists want them to be equal. Men have different obligations than women. Feminism is about eliminating female obligations, not male obligations. In fact, men have more obligations than ever. Whatever the problem it's always men who take the blame. Because it's believed that all women are good, and never lie or try to get one over on people, but men are the evil rulers of the Patriarchy. Bull****.
