Here is the COMPLETE table of possibilities:

1. Pick goat 1. FLIP: car. STAY: goat.
2. Pick goat 2. FLIP: car. STAY: goat.
3. Pick car. FLIP: goat. STAY: car.

Clearly the correct choice is to flip.

It baffles me that people find this hard to understand. Put a third way, if we imagine that one of the goats is never revealed, you have a 1/3rd chance of picking the car. If you don't switch, you are not using any of the new information, which means that your chance of getting the car is still 1/3.

If you're trying to be tricky, kudos. If not ... Please don't teach this to your students this because it will confuse any of them with English skills and probably lead to them developing "borderline personality disorder" which will cause them to have premarital sex and/or listen to loud music.

The question is worded wrong. If there is a car or a goat behind door number 1, 2, or 3, that means after the reveal we know there is only a goat and the other two doors have nothing behind them. This leaves you with the choice of taking the goat (stupid, if you've ever tried caring for or being around a goat even for a few minutes you'd know this) or taking nothing (slightly less stupid, and completely pointless).

Slowwhand's answer, while probably not for the right reasons, was at least less wrong than your comment. He is simply choosing nothing over a goat, which is probably the best option for most people (as they have no means to take care of or properly dispose of a goat on short notice).

Goat ranches are awesome, and can produce some of the best cheeses.

BK was horrible to word his question in such a way as to not allow you a chance at winning the goat. He probably prefers American cheese to any other kind.
