I know why this is such a problem... because over the hundreds and thousands of years of human history, any time a horrible monarch came about and there was a revolution, brave souls rose up and killed the guy and maybe his closest collaborators. But the hordes of sheep that turned a blind eye to the abuses? Nobody murdered them. So they reproduced and their descendants continued to agree to whatever social contract was put in front of them, regardless of how evil it was. Sheep are fine. They are the workhorses of the economy. We need them.

And if I ever get real power, I sure as hell want a bunch of agreeable people that are happy to get on their knees so I can plop my sack in their mouth.

My assertion is crystal clear that you are deminstrating your trademark dishonesty by ignoring the institutional context when the institution in question is the biggest institutional perpetrator of child sexual abuse in modern history. Punt all you want.

Ben, the reason you're frustrating as hell is because on issues like the education of deaf children you could so easily be a really relevant source. You know more about it than anyone else here, you've lived through it, and on questions like sign vs speech you might well be completely right. As usual though you completely torpedo your own credibility by taking a reasonable position and twisting it into a wildly ridiculous one that makes everyone just laugh at you.

Deaf people go through huge trials and tribulations and I'm sure the system could be much, much better if people were better educated about it, but comparing it to the deliberate sadistic oppression of an entire race is not only stupid but also offensive. You might have suffered some bad treatment over the years, but you certainly have not suffered the kind of terror that a black person growing up in pre-Civil Rights southern America had to go through.

I have a suspicion that Ben is using his hearing impairment as a way of getting on the board in the oppression olympics, nothing more.
