  • Interesting that you quote a version that has revised 'slaves' to 'servants' Ben. Also interesting that you can claim to be a follower of a man who exhorted his followers to give up everything they owned to the poor and to live the most humble of lives in the cause of spreading a message of love and peace, yet use the precise wording of a parable to paint a completely different picture. As I said, Jesus would hate you.

    • Are you claiming not to have sinful desires?
I'm referring to Romans 6, what Paul said there.

      Romans 6:6-14

For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.

Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.

In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.

I use the NIV out of ecumenical purposes. Douay Rheims (which is what I use for myself) has servant as well. KJV has servant too. Where are you getting 'slave'?

Your problem is that I cite all of scripture and not the parts you like? And Jesus would hate me for it? We have an obligation to make use of the talents and to do the best job that we can possibly do, especially when trusted with the resources of other people. MLK Jr even had a quote for it - streetsweepers have an obligation to sweep streets as Christ himself would sweep them.

I'm glad you concede the point though. Tossing out scripture you find inconvenient demonstrates that you accept that Christ does not preach what you were saying that he preached.

There is honor and dignity in all professions and we, as Christians have to do our very best.

As I said, Jesus would hate you.
Do you call him Lord and bow to him?

Econ fail again. But according to your logic we should invest in that which others do not invest in because they find it to be evil, because that earns the most money.

It's no wonder that your worldview is so screwed up. You think that whatever you do is not sin, and whatever you don't do is.

Umm, no, I'm not saying that at all. How on earth did you get THAT out of Romans 6? Do not let sin be your master - is not the same thing as saying that I never sin. Far from it.

How do you get around Christ when he says, "the one who has been given much, much more is expected?"

I asked you if you desire to sin. You said no.

You cherry pick the bits that suit you, while ignoring the (embarrassingly obvious) overall message. The rich do not carefully take care of societies resources for the good of all, they hoard them keeping them out of the hands of the more needy.

You moron, it actually beggars belief that you're trying to argue that Jesus didn't advocate for the poor and despise the rich. You ignore every action in his life and pin your pathetic attempts at theology on a precise wording of a few parables.

I wonder who would come last in a poll about which member showed the least honour and dignity? Want to guess?

You think that bowing and scraping is the path to heaven? Yeah, you really don't get this christianity thing.

I don't. But I don't believe that Christ is like an earthly master, reaping where he does not sow.

I don't reject the parable. It's a parable you simpleton.
