Paul Ryan is one of the few people in Washington who deserves respect, because he's willing to actually discuss and put forward real solutions instead of making vague nebulous statements about what needs to happen.

My dad's met Ryan and was thoroughly impressed. At the time, he asked if Ryan was going to join the primary races, and he said "No, I love my wife and kids too much."

I'm pretty sure you, your dad and brother would all get along great with Ryan and have wonderful opinions of eachother. You were all privledged from birth with a silver spoon never really understanding what the plight of 90% of America was like.

Let me clarify as that came out much harsher than I intended. You, your dad and brother are most likely great people that I'm sure I could have a good time sitting down with. Being born privledged is not a bad thing (indeed it is what most people strive for), doesn't make you bad person, and certianly completely outside of your control. It's not your fault that your perents are rich. However, it does distance you from how a vast majority of the population functions. How can you (or in this particlar case, Paul Ryan) lead a people that you cannot possibly understand?

That's the history of nearly every government that ever existed.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

FDR seems to have pulled it off. Born in privilege and led the country during the great depression.

                        that's a terrible analogy.

Donegal - how does Obama represent this particular background? He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth - never worked a day in his life, went to Harvard, went to Columbia. His 'work' was as a community organizer, and he certainly wasn't hurting. His mother was filthy rich.

I'm curious to why it's relevant for Ryan/Romney and not relevant for Obama.

It really isn't. Understanding how the economy works does not require growing up in the ghetto. And I'm pretty sure Al is the only one on this board who has ever lived in the ghetto.
