Yet another brit who does not understand the constitution

The well-regulated militia bit refers to the fact that the feds can't keep the states from having a national guard. It's separate from the private citizen's right to bear arms.

        It was merely a scratch.

        Mine has had worse.

Making bombs is really, really dangerous. Making ammo is easy and pretty safe.

Bombs and explosives are legal in this country; you just need certain licenses that very few people have; they tend to be expensive.

Well, enjoy your third-world standard homicide rates and just keep telling yourself it's the price you pay for freedom.

If you'd like an example of gun control not working, try South Africa.

The homicide rate where I live is probably less than London's

Bugs, are we discussing legality, or enforcability? You seem to be crossing the streams here.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Wolfram|Alpha brings expert-level knowledge and capabilities to the broadest possible range of people—spanning all professions and education levels.

0.0 per 100,000 people per year, definitely less than London.

1.6 per 100,000 people per year, compared to London's 1.9 in 2010. That's the surrounding county. Definitely lower.

By the way, when was the handgun ban created? London's homicide rate hasn't improved that much in the last 20 years, compared with the improvements made in the United States at the same time.

1.6? I could swear I read it was .5 somewhere.

It's still about a third of the national average. I think it's less than the Canadian average too. Latest data I can find for that is 2006 so I'm not sure.

                          Also I made a mistake-it's about 1.5, not 1.6.

Fake London is 1.2 per 100K

                            Re - rest of Canada

Canada's homicide rates from 2000-2009 (per 100,000 people)

                            1.2: London

                            3.7: Regina (highest)

                            0.6: Peterborough (lowest)

                            1.5: Ontario

                            1.8: Canada

                            From here: http://www.lfpress.com/news/london/2.../18905576.html

I can't be bothered with StatsCan.

He also had no permits apparently so the legal issue is probably moot.
