The status quo is fine. These massacres are pretty rare and account for a rounding error in the mortality rate. More gun control is not going to help and never has in the past.

You're probably tens of thousands of times more likely to be killed in a car accident than attacked by a crazed gunman. These events are tragic but occur maybe once every two years in a country of over 300 million.

Moreover, at the point when you've decided to go on a murderous rampage, the legality of your murder weapon is not a high priority.

Can't argue with this logic, can you?

Cars and guns -- you can't have a modern society without either.

You don't need to be killed by a crazed gunman. You're more likely to be killed by someone you know with a gun.

No one is saying guns raise crime rates. Guns just increase lethality.

If you argue that point, shoot yourself in the ****ing temple with a gun and spare us.

I dream of a future where when Americans turn 16, they get a driver's license, get a car, and drive; when they turn 18, they register to vote, and vote; and when they turn 21, they get a concealed carry permit, learn to shoot, and carry in self defense.

Yeah, it is. Because it demonstrates the fact that in a country where the number of legal private guns is between 90-100% of the number of adults, and illegal guns bring the number way past one for every citizen, the idea of getting rid of them is ridiculous.

Go to Kentucky. Then try to tell me that you can ban guns.

Uh, no. It's amusing because I find it unlikely that we know guns designed fewer than 60 years ago last longer than 60 years.

We understand the materials used, and there have been few revolutions in design. As a general rule, guns that don't break in their first decade, don't break.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

A friend of mine has a Mosin-Nagant from the '40s that he shoots all the time.

Sure. But perhaps let's wait until we have some data.

You seem mighty proud of your logic, Lori, but I once saw a guy shoot a computer and the computer totally bit the dust. Guns >>> Logic.

Learn to shoot before you're 21. I'm not a gun owner, but even I know that your first experience with a gun should be with your dad, not your buddies. Safer for everyone if you learn to respect a gun at the same time you're learning to fire it than learning to fire it when you're with your drinking buddies.

                                Elok -

I saw that video as well and I have to disagree.

With a little time to rest and recover that computer would have been back in the fight.
