  • Actually it would behoove you to stop making **** up.
Still waiting for your proof that single people make up 5 percent of all adoption applications. Odd that. Make an unsupported assertion, and then argue that it's my duty to PROVE YOU WRONG. Nope!

It's your arguement. Feel free to prove it anytime.

    • Catholics are so persecuted in Ontario they get their own publicly funded school system. No other religion is so persecuted in this province.

edit - And NO Ben, this was not an invitation to debate.
Notwithstanding the fact that McGuinty is forcing the Catholic schools to teach that homosexuality is a-ok. Despite the fact that they are constitutionally protected... What use is it having a Catholic school if they can't actually teach Catholicism?

      • Nope- because all you've done is make a spurious comparison between one aspect of slavery and a possible punishment if you don't pay taxes.
I actually made 4, but then, who's counting? Labelling my argument as 'spurious' doesn't make it so.

I said that imprisonment for owing taxes is similar to the punishment endured by slaves But it isn't- since slaves were already lacking any freedom to make a choice
I have no choice. I have to pay taxes or get arrested and thrown into jail. Your definition of choice ignores coercion in the form of imprisonment.

The state doesn't tax on a whim- it's part of a social contract.
Which is why Rousseau argued in favor of a progressive taxation system. Oh wait, no he doesn't. The social contract existed long before progressive taxation, and progressive taxation has absolutely nothing to do with any 'social contract' so worded. It has quite a bit to do with Marx though. I wonder why that would be.

Rousseau (and Locke), and Hobbes, etc all argued that the state was oppressive to the innate freedoms possessed by the people.

Assault within a prison is not a given
Don't drop the soap then. It's common enough.

Slaves didnt have 'work programmes'- they had unpaid forced labour
Unpaid forced labor is exactly what taxation is. Exactly the same thing.

Control over your physical body and payment of tax on earnings are two entirely different things.
Unpaid forced labor is no different. That I am required to pay taxes is a restriction on control of my own body, as I have to work, to feed the apparatus of the state, under the coercion of arrest.

        Irrelevant, hysterical, and unproven.
Very much proven. I'll cite Boissoin and Whatcott, and Kempling as people who have been persecuted for defending what the Church teaches in Canada. It IS happening, and it's happening with the blessings of the state.

          • I asked Rah why there is such a difference between single people and married people wrt to adoption.
BUT RAH, and everybody else is responding to this gem of a quote you made

then why don't we let single people adopt as well?

And in that quote, you were totally wrong, as people have proved...
But as usual, you are trying to worm you way out of having to admit yet another stupid mistake on your part by trying to change the argument.
Nice try... but it isn't going to work

            YOU WERE WRONG

AND WRONG YET AGAIN... You can choose to live somewhere where there is no income tax... That's a FREEDOM slaves don't have.
But you keep ignoring that simple freedom that you have...

Working whatever job you enjoy doing and having to pay taxes is not exactly like being forced to do any job your master wants and doing it totally for free.

                0 for 3 you moron....

                • No. Yet again, you fail to comprehend.
I read the source that you cited, and the source doesn't say that it comes from differences from each of the states, nor does it even provide that explanation for their numbers.

So Catholic schools get public funding and they're mad because they don't get to pick on their homosexual students?

I said, "so why don't we let single people adopt as well" meaning, that they are far less likely to be approved.

TYPICAL... you get proved wrong so all of a sudden your "meaning" is something else.... No surprise...

In Canada, at least in Ontario - the Catholic and Protestant systems receive direct funding. The protestant system was secularized, and became the public school system, while the Catholic system remained separate.

The Catholic system should be able to teach Catholic teachings. End stop. Otherwise, it makes no point to have a Catholic school system that isn't Catholic.

Oddly enough, you can't actually find a citation where I said that single people cannot adopt. Funny that. Maybe that's because in your haste to prove me wrong, you overlooked what I actually wrote, and then clarified for you. Of course, you could have asked me beforehand, if you were uncertain, but that's never how it works, is it?
