The Catholic system should be able to teach Catholic teachings.

If there is a Catholic school system, then they should be able to teach what the Catholic church teaches. Canada is not Denmark. Things work differently in Canada.

There should not be a Catholic school system. There also shouldn't be a school system dedicated to teaching antisemitism. If we let one intolerant bunch indoctrinate children on the public dime, why not others? Best nip this in the bud and close down all Catholic schools immediately and place all victims of those schools in sexual abuse counseling (out of an abundance of caution, 95% of Catholic school victims have been sexually abused by either God or a priest) and reconditioned to believe in Science.

I think there are conflicting statistics:
According to the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, 33% of children adoption from Foster Care is by a single parent (U.S. DHHS, 2000).
Research in the 1970s found that an estimated .5% to 4% of persons completing adoptions were single. Studies in the 1980s found from 8% to 34% of adopters were single. (Stolley, 1993)
Across the country the number of single parent placements slowly and steadily continues to increase, both in domestic and intercountry adoption. (Feigelman and Silverman, 1993)

The website does indicate that single parents have greater difficulty adopting, but this is not necessarily justified. The website reports a study indicating that children adopted by single parents experienced fewer problems.

Yes. In most areas there are Public Schools and Catholic Schools, both of which are publicly funded. You choose where your child goes.

They are not taught by nuns or anything like that. It's just like a public school except it breeds people with uniform fetishes, S&M inclinations, and future dangerous behaviour out of rebellion. They also get a class on "Religion" where they learn how to beat their wives.

The most promiscuous gays I know all went to Catholic school. And I'm sure every straight man knows what girls from Catholic schools are like.

Why not others? Because that's the way the constitution is set up in Canada. Want to change that, change the constitution. Catholics have never been the majority (especially not in Ontario), and the same minority rights that you argue for in other circumstances are the same ones that protect Catholics.

Why should the wants and desires of one minority trump another? The Catholic system teaches Catholic teachings. Don't like that, attend a different school. Forcing a Catholic school to teach things contrary to their faith is a violation of their charter rights.

Like I said, it's to protect a minority in Canada. Catholicism has had these protections since Confederation. If you want to set things up like the Americans do, and remove funding for Catholic schools, go ahead, but don't come crying when people use those same arguments to take away privileges that you like.

I find it mindboggling that public funding for religious schools is a Canadian thing rather than a US thing. (Not counting scholarships/subsidized loans/pell grants to religious Universities.)

It came down to the Protestant English vs Catholic French. A compromise to make Quebec happy was the separate school districts to ensure Protestantism didn't kill Catholocism. The Prostestant schools morphed into secular ones, since they are reasonable people. Catholic schools remained in the past. Now we have this relic of a system.
