If I put all the idiots on ignore, my posts would be the only ones left. :douchebag:

Or here's an idea, why not actually post something of substance to back up your opinions rather than just insult people you disagree with?

    • Unfortunately, Politico is incorrect that entitlements will die if they aren't fixed. Rather, everything else will die.

Fortunately, every year our life expectancy increases, so, left unreformed, these programs will continue to grow. It's on autopilot.

      • In twenty years, people will live to nearly 100 on average, despite not having access to quality health care, food, and protection.

        • Here's my take:

1.) Opening graph is crap. There is no way to seperate the impact of the "Bush" tax cuts and the economic downturn. The economic downturn has a definate corelation to the impact of the tax cuts on the deficit (as it is represented by the graph).

2.) While I agree with keeping part of the Bush tax cuts, I believe that the rich should pay more. I guess it all depends on what you think "their fair share" actually means.

3.) Far more important is cutting spending. Spending is absoutely out of control. Politicians need to make hard choices. It would be a suprise to see this happen. The most likely outcome is that we will have to devalue the debt through a period of high inflation.

4.) Recovery is highly unlikely given the current tendency to regulate in Washington. Business will not hire more than they absolutely have to in the current environment. It is not only taxes that causes companies to move many units off shore.

5.) Obama has been a failure at having any inkling on how to stimulate this economy. If he would look at history, he would know that choking regulation and hyper government spending is not the answer. Let the American people set their fate...not 536 idiots who know how to campaign.

          6.) The solution:

A.) Eliminate corporate taxes. Period. Corporations don't pay taxes (I guess I make KrazyHorse's moron list ). All they do is shift profits overseas or raise prices to cover their tax liability. The latter is the most regressive type of tax there is.

B.) Set a "Minimum tax free income level" per income earning individual. Set it at 4 or 5 times the "poverty" level. No income for anybody is taxed at or below this figure. Tax rates for all income above this figure are set with the budget every year to generate a balanced budget plus 1/50th of the national debt. 50 years and we have the damn thing paid off.

C.) Regulatory agencies and corporate representatives need to form "Committees" or "Task Forces" or whatever you want to call them with a dual legally binding mandate to provide a regulatory environment that will stimulate job growth and protect consumers.

D.) Eliminate lobbyist and campaign finance. Candidates get equal and predetermined amounts of time and media to get their message out. If they ca't do it effectively in controlled time amounts versus their competition, then they don't deserve to be a leader of people anyway.

There...Now I believe I have fixed every major fiscal problem. Will there be anything else?

              • Are we really going to continue this debate now that more debt has been added under Obama's watch than during the entire Bush presidency?

                • I'm sure that sounds scandalous to people who think the private sector would have automatically compensated for the trillions in spending cuts that would have been needed to avoid adding significant amounts of debt under his watch.

                  • The scandalous part is that there hasn't been any serious attempt to cut spending and avoid adding scandalous amounts of debt on President Obama's watch. His proposed budgets haven't even tried to address the issue.

                    • No, the only scandalous thing is that deficits are likely to persist after the economy has recovered.

                        • I don't know how anybody could defend Obama on his spending habits. It doesn't matter that he's better than Bush -- even if true, it's damning with faint praise.

In order to do what's needed, Obama has to correct his course in a very major way.

                          • Stipulating that that is true, how does that change any action we need to take today?
What this proves is that Obama hasn't kept any of his promises. Wasn't he supposed to eliminate these things rather than expanding them? He owns it all now.

He's pushing on adding more debt than all the other presidents, combined.
