For example, Genesis mentions Abraham leaving his hometown UR of the Chaldeans, it is probably the Southern Mesopotamian UR, that used to be a Sumerian City. Much later, southern Mesopotamia came to be populated by semitic Chaldeans and was known as Chaldea.

If Abraham lived around 1600 before Christ (I am supposing he existed, I believe he existed since I am religious) and the Chaldeans arrived to Southern Mesopotamia and entered History in the 8th century, then probably Genesis was written many many centuries after Abraham by some scribe in the Kingdom of Judah or Israel.
Do you agree with that?

I believe scripture is holy and inspired, but it is not God, and God is not a ventriloquist who takes control of people and forces them to write books.

Also, this isn't terribly important, but it just occurred to me that the incident with Ezekiel and the dry bones was part of a vision, and therefore the objection you made to Imran's use of Revelation technically applies to it.

Imran's problem is that he didn't have any point except he asked if I thought a Bible is on the horse. The answer is of course no. My point is that prophets speak the actual word of God, evident by the results. Contrast this with your theory that the prophets told lies.

Why do you keep lying about other people's beliefs? Do you believe that if somebody doesn't completely adhere to the same beliefs as you then you no longer need to treat them civilly? "It's not a sin to lie about this person, because he believes in evolution." "It's not a sin to steal from this person, because he's a blasphemer." You would have been right at home in the Spanish Inquisition (assuming they didn't execute you for heresy).

Anyway, if you're going to stop reading at the first thing a person says to disagree with you--as you evidently did with Fr. Stephen, he spends a couple of paragraphs going over the correct method of Biblical interpretation, "his personal opinion" is the opposite of what he advised--and then make up some rubbish for their POV and argue with that, you're not going to benefit from anything I or anybody else says to you.

This could be interpreted two different ways without causing any of the difficulties presented by saying Word=Bible:

1. Christ, the Word of John 1:1, was active in the creation of the world. Not surprising.
2. If you don't like that, the Genesis account shows God saying, "Let it be X," and X happens. I.e., these things are literally caused by God's spoken word.

Whether 1 and 2 are functionally different is a matter for real theologians.

I believe both of those. I believe the whole Bible. Now I'm assuming that your theolgians don't believe this verse. But what is it that makes them think that they can pick one verse or the other to believe. Like I said, the early church believed that there was a time period when God's truth would be revealed to the apostles. And when the biblical canon was selected they believed that God no more revealed truth in such a way, but the truth was known only through scripture. So the problem is exactly this, how do they get off saying they are the church but they don't agree with the early church.

I read the whole thing. I'm sure that what he's saying is this, "we men know the truth, so remember that truth as we interpret the Bible so that we can declare false the parts that we don't believe." Those aren't the exact words.

I was born again reading the Bible, the Gospel according to John to be specific. I don't normally talk about worshipping the Word, but the Bible says God is the Word so yeah. I guess you could say my God is a little bigger than those who don't believe in the Word.
