First off, when you give a gift to someone, if you are genuinely a nice person, you give that gift with no expectations of anything in return except perhaps a simple "thank you."

Second, I myself know of people from whom I would not accept a gift. So in Rah and Ming's case, they were perfectly in the right not to extend a "thank you" to BK.

Hey, I kept quite because I respect GUY and JR and did not want to make it public that I refused the gift. I didn't want to be put into a position of having to lie about it if I was asked so By having JR just use the gift I hoped to avoid that. But your bringing it up makes me wonder if it was all more about your perceived generosity than anything else. Fortunately I really don't give a rat's ass about how you feel about it. I already apologized to JR about it and now offer one up to GUY. Thanks for making it public you wanker.

The draft story was just not cool. As someone who ran a few fantasy leagues on this site, something like that would have been a complete pain in the butt to deal with, ESPECIALLY if the response was as quoted by Ming. I also get asked if I'd like to be a part of a league, and I say no and move on. Joining a league and then quitting because you didn't get one player is seriously crappy form.
