I don't expect you to understand what it's like to be a gay kid in high school. There were certainly problems, it's just that kids didn't come out and say it because they were ****ing closeted. Especially in rural BC.

Many gay people who did have him as a teacher filed evidence on his behalf supporting him.
    Liar.

I've met the man and worked with him for awhile. I'm from that area of BC. Correlieu is a great school, wonderful people. May have met him years ago before I knew who he was, when I was kid, but I'm not sure.

They lost a heck of a teacher, and the way the BCTF treated him is why I will not teach in BC. They did evil to a good man who served them well.
The man was demonstrably stupid, in addition to being bigoted. They lost an idiot.

The difference between me and you is if a gay man were writing to a public newspaper and got fired from his teaching job with the public school, is that I'd say the same thing.
No, the difference between me and you is you're a ****ing bigot and want the government to ensure hatespeech is legal and ensures Christianity trumps social liberty.

        Nope. Definitely American ignorance.

Calgary is far more significant (in fact, it is disproportionately significant) than many American cities that people could place well.

Try me. It's in southern Alberta north of Montana.

It's obviously a mistake on my part. But it's hilarious how desperate you are to catch me being wrong on something

More precisely, the spirit of Canada lives in Calgary...given the ridiculous intraprovincial immigration rates. Everyone wants in on the fun.

                      • No.
Yeah you can. Maybe I should show you how.

Again, how does it impact your relationship to not have the certificate? What negative repercussions are there for you. I'm not going to explain the law to you. There are many benefits to marriage that depend on the certificate. I assume you've never filed taxes, given that you're an illegal alien...that's just one example.
Funny how when it all comes out, it comes back to there being a tax incentive. Gosh. Guess ol' Ben called it ages ago.

                        1) Who is accommodating gay marriage? What are straight couples changing?
Extension of a tax benefit is an accommodation.

                        2) WTF do you mean "go through the bother to set things up"? Are you saying you wish for the government to waste insane amounts of time amending all legislation in history that refers to marriage and amending it? That sounds like something you would like...
Considering that's what they already did and you never complained about the cost, I don't see why it would be a cost issue to change it back.

Changing laws to benefit the 1 percent is apparently more important than doing it for the 99 percent that the law at present covers.

Who cares who starts the threads? You can't stop talking in them.
So what you are saying is that expressing an opinion in favour of gay marriage = good. Expressing an opinion contrary to gay marriage = bad.

                        Good to know.

It's like when you're in the rest stop and the trucker starts stroking you. You didn't start it, but you keep going til you're spent.
Are all your first dates like that?

Takes time to compile two million lines of code.
                        Before or after breakfast?

Because you're a simpleton and like so many other men I've known in my life.
So apparently I'm a fetish. Gosh. Who could have seen that coming.

Did you know the first three guys I fooled around with were hardcore homophobes and extremely Christian? Do you know that they're all "married" now and "very conservative"? I know your type, Ben. All too well.
So I was right. You are repressing yourself.

For the record: it was never in the classroom. It was recommended to be suggested as a resource to guidance counsellors when a gay student expressed feelings of being alone and isolated.
It was in the classrooms, and you just admitted that it was in the classrooms. Were you wrong then or now?

Because I can marry a man...
So because you defy something means that something no longer exists. Interesting argument.

Marriage is a construct. Anyone who doesn't see it that way is too stupid to discuss the matter.
Which is why I'm arguing that you don't even understand my position. You don't and still don't even after all these years.

I see marriage like I do "cup" or "table" or "chair". It has a form which cannot change, without the object being no longer a cup or a table and a chair, even as it has different accidents which do not change the essential form.

Gay marriage is like calling a table a table with no legs. The form has changed to something else.

It is IN some classrooms. In THIS case, it was a recommended resource to recommend to gay teenagers that the guy was upset with. He'd prefer they directed them to conversion therapy.

Ignored the rest of your post. At some point I just need to recognize you are not capable of intellectual discourse. Sometimes people are just dumb and need to stay ignorant.

                            Facts:
                            1) Gay marriage has been legal in Canada for years
                            2) Straight couples have not been affected by gay marriages
                            3) People and governments are becoming increasingly intolerant of bigotry, even if it comes under the thin veil of "religious beliefs"

You are losing the battles, and the war, Ben. Badly. Within 50 years, people are going to think of practicing Catholics the same way they think of Scientologists or the People's Temple members. The trend is undeniable.
