I'm not going to explain the law to you. There are many benefits to marriage that depend on the certificate. I assume you've never filed taxes, given that you're an illegal alien...that's just one example.

Seems to me you don't want to go through the bother to set things up so you want other people to accommodate you. Fair enough, but there's really no cause for it, to make 99 percent of the people change to make the 1 percent happy.

I know I certainly would not feel comfortable and respected in that man's classroom.

He taught for 20 years without this being a problem. Frankly, I'm thinking that you'd do just fine in his classes and wouldn't have a problem with him at all. The evidence that I've seen suggests strongly that he was an excellent teacher.

No homosexual could honestly say they would.

Many gay people who did have him as a teacher filed evidence on his behalf supporting him. That to me speaks volumes about his conduct in the classroom. What I believe and what you believe means nothing. What his students believed, says everything.

He was a teacher in a secular public district. Not a private school, not even a Catholic district. Secular. Public.

I've met the man and worked with him for awhile. I'm from that area of BC. Correlieu is a great school, wonderful people. May have met him years ago before I knew who he was, when I was kid, but I'm not sure.

They lost a heck of a teacher, and the way the BCTF treated him is why I will not teach in BC. They did evil to a good man who served them well.

I could get fired for inappropriate public comments if I connect them to my work (as he did in his letters). It's in the conduct agreement most professionals sign.

His comments were not inappropriate. They were a cogent discussion on the issue of the day. Had he writtten the exact same letters and written in support of gay marriage, you would have supported him to hell and back. Why would you expect me to do anything different?

The difference between me and you is if a gay man were writing to a public newspaper and got fired from his teaching job with the public school, is that I'd say the same thing.

I call bull****. Where in America do you live where going the wrong way with timezones would make you think it's 11pm? If you live on the Eastcoast, it's 11pm so that can't be it. If you live on the Westcoast, it's 8pm. If you thought the timezone was reversed, it would have to have been BEFORE 8pm...
