FTFY.Texas has a reputation in states in Yankeestan for being more racist than Yankeestan so according to Yankees, if you were from Yankeestan your southern tendencies might be reduced, but on the other hand, according to Yankeestaners the stereotypical Southerner isn't very bright which means you'd be likely to identify with them no matter what state you were from.

I remember when I was younger and driving through the panhandle. We stopped at a gas station and there was a young attendant that upon noticing that our hair was on the long side recommended that we finish crossing the state and get across the state line before the sun went down and then added that we were lucky we weren't black because they wouldn't wait for the sun to go down.
Yes, yes I know it's from awhile back but I still remember it. And during my more recent trips, I've never seen anything that leads me to believe it's that much different now.
