And I kinda want to know WTF that Afghan veep was doing with that much cash and why we didn't bother to find out.
When you release a quarter million documents, I'm sure there will be something there that shows somebody was doing something they shouldn't. But it appears that the vast majority of these documents demonstrate primarily that the State Department understands realpolitik...If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

Yes, the substantial majority is merely embarrassing (minor officials calling foreign leaders names is the equivalent of your toddler yelling "hey, look at that fat lady" at the supermarket). Not a threat to national security--maybe to somebody's career, but not national security. WikiLeaks and the NYT were carefully redacting names where they might cause damage. And a lot of the stuff, the Korean unification thing for example, is utterly DUH. What did they think we were going to do, leave a second Somalia next door to an ally? This is mostly the government trying to eggproof its face. And cheat us all out of some great comedy.
Big ol' XPost.

and while they have since reopened the matter (again coinciding with the release of more wikileaks stuff, funny that), it's hard to see how it can go anywhere."The Christian way has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found to be hard and left untried" - GK Chesterton.
