  • You're making the assumption that when the bomb went off, it went full on Fat Man/Little Boy boom, with mushroom cloud and everything.

Yes, I'm assuming a nuclear bomb went off like a nuclear bomb. Maybe the electromagnetic energy pocket negated the nuclear blast in some way, but the sunken island leads me to believe that something more dramatic happened.

All it may have done was implode that pocket of energy or something.

True. Maybe the island sunk slowly after the pocket of energy was destroyed and people were able to get off.

And even if it did, given that it was several stories underground, it may not have had nearly the deadly effects to island inhabitants that you're proposing.

Detonating a nuke several stories underground isn't going to make a difference. The mountains on the island, on the other hand, might have.

We don't know what sunk the island.

No, but Jughead seems by far the most likely suspect.

    • I used to think this, but it seems less plausible after this week's flash sideways with Jack and last week's with Locke. Jacob touched Jack well after the point where Jack's life would've changed enough to produce the son we saw this week and Jacob touched Locke after Locke's dad pushed him out the window, so I don't see how the absence of Jacob would lead to a Locke who has a good relationship with his father and presumably got crippled some other way.
Jacob could have been interfering before he touched them. The touching could have some undisclosed purpose.

      • Best t.v. series ever?

How fun was it seeing Locke and Ben working side by side as high school teachers in Lost’s flash-sideways world. Well, imagine that as a spin-off series.

Though the show’s executive producers, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, insist they are opposed to any continuation of the series past May’s finale, that hasn’t stopped one Lostie from penning his own spin-off of sorts. Terry O’Quinn, who plays Locke/Smoke Monster, tells me he is shopping around a bible for a TNT-type show that would pair him back up with his real-life chum and on-screen foe, Michael Emerson (Ben) - as suburban hit men juggling family issues. Though Terry asked me not to spill show specifics, he has spoken with Lost creator J.J. Abrams about the project and says, “I really hope this works out because Michael would be in his prime in this. We’d play kind of awkward partners.”

“It’s very sweet of him,” says Michael. “I’m all in favor of it. Any reason to work with Terry again.”

        All it needs is Jack.

            This.

After Claire's execution of Black Mac, Hurley is now the only remaining original cast member to have not done anything morally reprehensible.

Claire, Kate, Sayid, James, even John--murderers, each and every one of them
Jack--controlling, jealous, drove wife away, broke father's sobriety, drove father to his death, plotted the near-genocide of the Others in 2004 and Dharma in 1977
Sun--cheated on husband, killed an unarmed Other (unintentionally)
Jin--brutal thug/mobster, ******* who drove his wife away

Tried to claim credit for and "improve" upon the greatness that is The Empire Strikes Back.

He also has the largest carbon footprint of any castaway.

Ahhh, but didn't he? The Empire he described to Miles was actually slightly different than the Empire we know.

                        • Damn you, Darlton. Why'd you have to make me like Dogen (he's a ****ing badass! he's from Kansai!) right before you killed him?

Nice work on offing Lennon, though.

Michael Emerson has already said that he's still involved in shooting (which is only a couple episodes away from the finale now), so I'm quite sure Ben won't be meeting his demise next week.
