  • What is Claire's catch? And what side is John on? He didn't choose Jacob or Smokie.

One could also argue that it's not just good vs. evil, but free will vs. fate. (lord knows they've pushed that theme a lot)
This was what I was thinking throughout the episode. No matter how much Sayid tries to not be a killer/torturer that is who he is destined to be.

    • I hope Aaron returns and helps redeem Claire, kind of like how meeting Alex made Rousseau a lot less crazy.

However, Claire seems a lot crazier than Rousseau ever was. MiB's mind control might be too strong for her. Luckily she's still hot, in a psycho cheerleader kind of way.
      John Brown did nothing wrong.

      • Charles Widmore is back. I'm guessing we'll see Desmond and Penny in the sideways arc soon.

I thought the slow motion Hurley and Sun running to each other was hilarious.

        • Great episode. I'm really glad that Ben is going to have an opportunity to redeem himself.

          • Ben episodes always rule: FACT.

So far, we've seen some people make different decisions in the alternative universe: Jack leaving behind his daddy issues, John at piece with what he can't do, Ben choosing Alex over himself. And then, there's Sayid: always a killer. Kate, always a complete sociopath and a drag on the narrative. This is how the "sides" might be shaping up.

The thing is, if you just listed off what happened this week vs last week, you would assume that last week's episode was much better. That wasn't the case, however. Not much happened this week, but it was still great because Ben Linus is the best character on the show and Michael Emerson can make me care about pretty much anything, even high school power struggles.

Hopefully, but we'll see. The next episode is, allegedly, a Sawyer episode, so we'll probably get caught up on what he's been up to since his trip to Jacob's (?) Cave. The one after that is rumored to be the long-awaited Richard episode, so we might at least get some Widmore backstory there.

Slow-mo Hurley is always hilarious, but Sun (like everyone else) genuinely loves Hurley. Also, don't forget Hurley is the only one who flew out to see Ji Yeon.

                • Now, let's get to the discussion. I'll offer the first question...

Which is more frightening, Ilana when she's angry or Alex's teeth?

Remarkable, since last week's episode was pretty awesome itself.

Miles was quite funny tonight; I enjoyed his "uh-oh!" after spilling the beans on Ben to Ilana.

I wouldn't turn either of them down, but Ilana genuinely looks like she could rip me in half, and I'm an average-sized dude.

I was very, very worried (and very, very relieved to have my worries be for nothing) that they were going to have Alex go all Lolita on Ben. That would've been entirely too creepy.

Ben was definitely on the Island, and left with Roger. We don't know exactly when--truthfully, we don't even know if young Ben got shot before the Incident, but the safe money is on Ben somehow returning to Dharma after the Incident, and then Roger taking him off the Island. Also, it appears safe to assume that the French team never crashed on the Island, probably because it sunk sometime inbetween the Incident in 1977 and the French expedition in 1986(?).

I had the same fear exact fear. There was nothing in the episode to really make you think they were going that way, but something about Alex showing up at Ben's house unannounced made me panic about a completely disturbing hookup.

I should note that this perception may be colored by her character in Rome.

Apropos of nothing, there was one thing about the episode that I didn't particularly care for, and that was the subtle-as-a-sledge-hammer-to-the-zygomatic-arch lecture Ben gave on Napoleon.

No, she's pretty badass. I've never watched Rome and I was still like "****, I really wouldn't want to **** with that *****."

                              • Yeah, similar impression in Rome. Except, instead of using an assault rifle, she'd use a sword and/or poison.

I'd definitely recommend Rome for you Drake. Ultraviolence, tits, great dialogue, and a great story of friendship. Granted, its not exactly a historical documentary when it comes to accuracy, but it's hugely entertaining.
