What kind of "fact" are you looking for?

Should I infiltrate the Vatican, inject truth serum into some Catholic Church brass and demand to know their new plan?

This is what I have heard and what I understand, and it makes sense logically and rationally. I'm pretty sure there will never be any sufficient "facts" for you to believe, so there's no point.

If you're curious, you can do some research. Frankly, I don't give a ****. Christian missionaries in foreign countries are creepy opportunists, regardless of the front they choose.

    • Hot air.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

      • Believe what you want, DanS. It makes you feel better to imagine Christians always doing the right thing and helping those in need. I understand it's a shock to probably realize that missionaries do not exist for the love of "God's Children", but they are merely indoctrination tools that prey upon the vulnerable.

This is not hot air, it's established fact.

        • Dan, here's a fun task for you.

Look at how many Christian Missionary Hospitals were in India 50 years ago compared to now. They're almost all closed today, even in the rural areas.

          Hot air?

                • Truely Ben is one of those people who give his faith a bad name and cause people to run away from it. It can sometimes be amazing when you actually do find a Christian or a Church who believes that the principal message is love and tolerance and not hate and exclusion.
Supposing you actually believe in heaven and hell, wouldn't you want to save as many people as possible? Earthly suffering is one thing, but eternal suffering is another. What good have you done if you have relieved someone's earthly suffering but condemned them to hell?

The key here is to help people, without abandoning your faith. Washington left off the conscience provision, forcing the church to drop these services and abandon government funding.

                  • Not providing an exemption for their bigotry is not kicking them out.
Forcing them to abandon their faith to continue their mission is wrong.

Saying they have to play by the same rules as everybody else or they can't get public $$ is perfectly reasonable. There's nothing wrong about it.

All this talk about conscience clauses...how about the consciences of tax payers who don't want their money going to something they find objectionable? Isn't that your own protest against public funding for abortions?

                          • Since Kid had to quote BK, I have this to say:

The homeless and needy were not pissing on Christian values while taking in on their charity because those people WERE NOT INVOLVED WITH THE CIVIL RIGHTS CAUSE FOR EQUAL MARRIAGE.

When the rules are contrary to their faith, yes there is something wrong with it. Obviously things worked perfectly well until now.

So you believe that Christian charity is the same as an abortion? Interesting thesis Boris, and very illuminating.
