If I said "All Christians have a low IQ", that example would add something to the conversation. Given that I merely expressed a *correlation* between religion and lack of use of the scientific method (which equals a mental handicap IMO) or low IQ if you like (it's true too), offering a case example where there would be a correlation between religion and high IQ does not disprove the validity of my statement.

Dude, that article says exactly what I was assuming: the correlation is between christianity and socio-economic status. No data is offered for a direct correlation between Korean Christians and IQ. The author speculates on the (most likely existing) correlation between Korean socio-economic status and IQ, but he offers nothing to prove a direct positive correlation between religion and IQ when compensating for socio-economic status (SES).

And clearly the cause of the difference in IQ is SES, not genetics, so this finding has no relevance whatsoever to your eugenic theories.

You are correct. But then again what if Christianity for example or religiosity is only associated with lower IQ because of poorer socio-economic status, poorer education in the Western world?

I'm pretty sure there are fewer people around here now, and that the toxic environment has had an influence on the decrease.

The traffic to the OTF is unchanged, so the excuse that the rough crowd in the OTF drove people away is obviously bunk.

The content is still stale, that's the problem.

I would argue that the rules changes drove off the more casual OTF posters and had little effect on the on-topic posters, while the stale content drove off the on-topicers and had little effect on the OTF posters. And that server issues drove off everyone.

And of course, the people that grew up and/or found other things to do IRL.

there are certainly fewer people now than a few years ago and it's a real shame. it would literally take hours to name them. we've lost a lot of quality posters, and i think more than a few have been driven away by the, at times, toxic atmosphere. there have been one or two new posters, kuci's little brother and gribbler spring to mind, and a couple of people have come back (speer and drose, for example) but it's only a drop in the ocean.

maybe civ 5 will reverse the trend and we'll get some good new posters and a few cool people coming back, but i'm not that optimistic.

IN THE PAST YEAR, and for the OTF only. I cannot fathom why you have difficulty with this.

I specifically talk about OTF traffic in the past year, and you keep whining about overall site traffic in the past five years. Then you called ME stupid.



Of course site traffic is down. We've had inept admin after inept admin. The content is STILL stale on this site. There's a small group of core OTF posters now -- some come, some go -- but the overall volume in the OTF has been essentially unchanged since Plomp took over.
